I’ve started blocking numbers that I don’t recognise, especially those random cold calls. It’s getting so annoying having to answer scams or sales calls all the time. Honestly, it’s the only way to keep my phone quiet nowadays.

I’m at a job where I pick up calls using the firm’s name. These folks ring often but just cut off the call once I state the company's name. Seeing other feedback saying the number belongs to scammers, I think they stumbled on my work number by mistake, assuming it’s a private phone. Then they drop the call once they see I’m not some private person to hoodwink - and they’re probably too daft to remember they already tried calling here.

I dont pick up calls from numbers I dont know anymore, if its someone I know they’ll leave a message anyway. At least with that I avoid telemarketers. Haven’t answered this one once, had a few calls this week including today.

Got loads of calls today from someone with a foreign accent, using different English names each time. They claimed to be from Microsoft, saying there was an issue with my computer. The last caller was proper rude and even told me to do something disgusting when I told them to stop calling - clearly a scam. Proper nasty individuals.

Some bloke called Neil rang me up saying I had a £2500 PPI payout waiting, but claimed I’d have to take a life insurance policy to keep the full amount. Proper sketchy since he had all my personal info. He even told me what to say to the insurance lot. I rang them up and said I knew it was a con and I’d be reporting it to the cops. Honestly, the insurance people sounded just as annoyed about it as I was.

I got a call from these lot claiming I was owed a PPI refund of £22,500. They asked for my dob and said the cheque would be paid straight into my bank account but then the bank would keep 75% for just handling the deposit. They said if I gave them my bank info, I’d only pay a 20% fee. I told them it sounded like a scam and they just hung up on me!!!

Got a call on my BT landline at about 1pm today. Some bloke, calling himself Mr Degado with a strong Indian accent, said there was an issue with my computer - even read out an IP address. I told him to jog on. Then he told me to f**k off. I had a right laugh at him and gave him a piece of my mind. Can BT not track down this 0161 225 9980 number? Someone’s got to be footing the bill, surely? Proper bloody nuisance!!!

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent, sounded like he was calling from some call centre. He was really impolite, telling me I wasn’t taking him seriously. The same number has been buzzing me nearly every day for the last week, but I usually ignore it. Today I picked up and told them to stop calling. After that, he called me rude, then rang back three times making some very personal and nasty remarks which I’d rather not mention. Pretty clear he didn’t appreciate me telling him off and it was definitely a scam.

Why is nothing done about these numbers? Whenever it’s an 0161 prefix, it’s usually some annoying call. Today, someone called saying my computer, which I don’t even own, was broken. I’ll block this one but another similar number will pop up soon enough. You’d think that when loads of calls get reported as scams, they’d be shut down fast. I’m absolutely fed up with it.

They wanted to talk to the person who runs the business. Sounded like just another scam call. When I asked which business they meant, I said it was the one that owns the laptop. Same old scammer nonsense, targeting people who might fall for it. They weren’t happy when I told them the boss was Bill Gates. Ended the call before any rude words could be said.

Had a call lasting about twenty minutes from a man with an Asian accent who gave the name Jack Anderson. He told me my current phone was outdated, supposedly illegal, and said it would stop working in 10 days! He promised to send me a new phone for an upfront cost of £99.99 and claimed I wouldn’t have to pay any phone bills again because all calls would be free. After the call, I dialled 1471 and found the number he used was 01612259980. I've reported this to my bank already.

They rang me thrice today - first at 13:14 and again at 15:32. Bit suspicious, as those are exactly when I’m on my lunch break and finishing school - do they know I’m a teacher or summat? Then they called once more at 18:02, which I picked up, but they just hung up on me. I usually keep these numbers unblocked for a bit coz when they actually chat, I really enjoy taking the piss and winding them up for ages. Though, I reckon this one’s gonna be blocked pretty soon anyway.

Had a call lasting about twenty minutes from a bloke with an Asian accent who said his name was Jack Anderson. He told me my phone was outdated and somehow illegal, and that it’d stop working in 10 days! Then he said he’d send me a new phone for a one-off payment of £99.99, and supposedly I’d never have to pay phone bills again since all calls would be free. After hanging up, I dialled 1471 and the number showed as 01612259980. I’ve already informed my bank about it.

Some bloke from Pakistan rang me claiming to be from Microsoft, asking if I owned my computer. He said my Windows had been hacked and wanted me to let him in remotely (though I haven’t even switched it on in months). I asked where he was based, and he told me an address in Paddington, London - 2 Kingdom Street, W2 6BD. Since his accent was really thick, I asked him to say it again, but he started calling me a total idiot. I told him his problems were just starting and that he’d be in deep trouble soon, you filthy scammer.

I received a rather curious phone call from an individual who appeared to have an Indian accent, claiming to represent what sounded like the Financial Services Agency-though, to be honest, he spoke at such a rapid pace I can’t be entirely certain. He started off by mentioning that I was owed over £2,000 in PPI compensation (I do have an ongoing claim, so it didn't raise any immediate flags for me). He informed me that a cheque would be dispatched shortly, but then threw in a bit about a hefty 55% fee if I were to deposit it at my bank. They had my name and address, which was a tad unsettling, and they inquired about my date of birth as well. The chap then revealed there was a way for me to circumvent these fees, and promised that his manager would explain how. He said he’d transfer me over, but after being put on hold for an eternity, I decided to terminate the call. Strangely enough, they rang back right after, but my answering machine picked it up.

I just got a call from 01612259980, when I picked up they asked me to say my name which I didn’t want to do. Then they claimed I’d won £2500 for some PPI refund. I told them I don’t have any claims going on and asked which bank they were from, but they just ended the call. Sounds like the same bloke everyone else is talking about.

Got a call early morning around 8.30 from someone claiming to be Microsoft, saying there’s an issue with my computer. I told him straight up it was a scam. He got really rude and started calling me repeatedly, even calling me a daft old woman. I told him I actually don’t own a computer because I’m a daft old woman. After that, they finally stopped calling. What a relief.

loads of scammers just stick to using a fake phone number for a short time before switching it up. same con, different number. this number seems a bit off so i'd say anyone receiving calls from it should definitely report it to the police via their 'action fraud' website. when cops and the nfib get enough complaints about a particular number or scam they actually do something about it. but you need a lot of reports since they dont have the resources to check every single one. after that, put up a report on this site too so others can be warned about the scam and the number.

Usually, a caller rings you and says your computer has a virus. Then they give you some directions that end up letting them take over your computer remotely. Sometimes, they might even put a virus on your device themselves and then try to sell you a fix for it.

I received a call from a gentleman with a distinctly Asian accent claiming to be from Microsoft. He mentioned that they had detected signs of hacking attempts on my system for the past few weeks. He wanted me to log into my computer to carry out some instructions. It all felt rather dodgy, so I decided to cut the conversation short and hang up. I strongly advise against obeying any such requests; it’s a trap! They definitely aren’t affiliated with Microsoft in any way. Just a word of caution - stay vigilant!

This number 01612259980 kept ringing my phone early morning a couple weeks back, around 7am. I just didn't pick up and even unplugged the phone for a while. Then yesterday, they rang me again starting 8am and kept calling all day long. Still I'm not answering any of their calls.

I picked up to hear some quiet chatter and office noise in the backdrop, but nothing for a good 5 seconds. I muttered, "this must be a cold call," and then this bloke yells HELLO, HELLO in this mocking, rude way like six times, clearly annoyed I called him out. Getting these cold calls is bad enough, but the way he acted so aggressively really upset me. I used to think maybe these callers were just struggling and needed the money, but now I’m unsure if they’re just disrespectful bullies with zero empathy. It’s quite disheartening really.

Twice today I got calls from an Asian guy, spouting the same old scam stuff. He pretended to be from Microsoft, saying my computer wasn’t updating and that it had trojan viruses - all complete nonsense. As someone who’s worked in IT for years, I called him out on it.
