I received a rather alarming phone call regarding an alleged HMRC tax fraud incident. The caller had all sorts of personal information, including my National Insurance number and tax code. What followed was quite intimidating, as they insisted I press 3 to sort the matter out, or I'd be facing imminent arrest by the police. It's painfully obvious that this is a scam. If one were genuinely involved in tax fraud, I highly doubt a phone call would be the first course of action; surely it would be more likely to involve an official visit or similar. So, I strongly urge everyone to ignore any options presented and steer clear of such nonsense. Stay safe!
