They call me, I pick up and can hear people speaking with an Indian/Pakistani accent in the background. Then they just cut off. The number looks like it’s local but sounds like some call centre in India. It’s really unsettling, especially for elderly folks or someone not feeling well. Bet they don’t bother about that at all. Proper pain in the neck they are.

Someone called me about an accident, I asked why they were ringing me, told them no one here has been in any accident and to stop calling, then I hung up. Two minutes later, they rang back asking for the person who supposedly had the accident. I gave them a piece of my mind and ended the call again.

Beware, everyone! I received a dodgy call today concerning an alleged car accident that I've supposedly been involved in. The caller seemed to have a load of my personal information at hand. When I pressed him for details about where he sourced this info, he claimed it was from my insurance provider but couldn't specify which one. Naturally, I didn't divulge any of my information to him. He stated he was from the MIB, the Motor Insurance Bureau. A quick search on the MIB's official site revealed a warning that perfectly fits this scenario: SCAM ALERT - INSURANCE CLAIMS Have you received an unsolicited call about an insurance claim purporting to be from the MIB or claiming to have derived your information from the Motor Insurance Database? The MIB does not: - Contact individuals regarding claims for car accidents unless a claim has been previously lodged with them - Disclose or sell information from the motor insurance database to unauthorised entities - Request your bank details over the phone Stay sharp and don’t fall prey to these scams!

Just got a call from these lot, said Aviva insurance gave them my number, but I’ve never been a customer, might’ve done a search once but no way a client. Told them to get lost and never call again. Now the same bloke’s phoned me 4 times, threatening me and heard my kid crying in the background. He said he’d turn up and “sort the brat” for good, swearing down the phone really loudly. Don’t pick up, just ignore, honestly proper scary stuff.

Honestly, they should be reported cos for people who can’t block numbers on their phone, it’s really frustrating, especially if you’ve got a disability like me. Got a call out the blue from someone saying it was a claim line and they got my number from Aviva. They said someone had hit the back of my car. I just told them to sod off. On my landline it showed "unavailable," so I guess someone slipped up and forgot to hide their number. There was music playing and it sounded like a bunch of Pakistani blokes in a call centre. I told them I needed to stop the music, then as soon as I did, they just hung up, so probably not a big deal. Next time, I might mess with them a bit longer. By the way, I'd definitely suggest using the Mr Number app on Android :)

Got a call from this number saying they were from an 'accident helpline' claiming someone using my phone had an accident in the past few years. I told them I couldn't verify that, then they started getting really pushy, insisting on speaking to the person involved. When I said I couldn’t do that, the caller said "why be scared, I’m not a terrorist" which honestly felt totally out of line. They said they were from some 'accident support' service, ringing about compensation for a recent accident. When I asked where they got my info, they said 'your insurance provider'. After a bit of back and forth, they mentioned 'Aviva', which I found funny since I've never even had Aviva. I told them my number is on the TPS and they ought not to be calling me. So, I got a call around 12.29 and as soon as I answered, this bloke started making these weird sounds like he was struggling or something (I'm a 15 stone straight guy).
