Sounds like this is one more number linked to Dennis Grey from HM Customs & Revenue, claiming there’s some “urgent matter” that if not dealt with pronto, will land me in jail. Funny enough, Dennis unfortunately talks through a robotic female voice.

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC, saying there was some fraud stuff and something about Manchester Crown Court. The number showed as 160 663 6074. I didn’t pick up and have blocked it already. Definitely gonna report it as a scam.

somebody called saying they was with hmrc and told me there’s been some fraud reported on my national insurance number. they said i had to call them straight back on the same number and not to just ignore the message cos it’s really important.

There’s no way HMRC would ever get in touch like this, it’s obviously a scam right off the bat. Plus, the number they’re calling from isn’t even where my tax office is based. As someone who works in government, I’m well aware of how the tax authorities reach out, and it’s definitely not through phone calls like this.
