They call pretty often but never seem to bother leaving a voicemail or anything.

They keep ringing me every single day but when I answer, there’s just silence on the line.

This number’s been ringin’ our phone like mad, six times over the past couple days. We just let it go to voicemail every time, didn’t pick up once. Seems like one of those annoying calls.

His speech was rapid, and he sounded as though he was reading from a script. Despite my persistent inquiries into the purpose of his call, he pressed on relentlessly. He requested my full name, age, and address, which I found quite intrusive. I interrupted him to ascertain if he was attempting to sell me something; he assured me he wasn’t, yet he kept insisting, "I just have one more question, and then I'm finished." Determined to uncover the reason for the call, I reluctantly responded to his queries. Eventually, the crux of the matter arrived: "Who is your energy supplier?" Upon sharing that information, he inquired whether I paid by direct debit. After I confirmed that I did, he expressed his gratitude and promptly hung up. Though he was exceedingly polite and respectful throughout the conversation, it dawned on me that he was covertly gathering information regarding my energy supplier. I suspect this will lead to a flood of promotional materials landing on my doormat soon enough. I wanted to share my experience for anyone else who might receive similar calls, so you know what to anticipate. Interestingly, I had a muted call from the same number just yesterday.

Curious about his intentions, I interrupted to ask if he was attempting to sell me something, to which he replied in the negative, albeit with a rather scripted response, insisting, "I just have one more question, and my job is complete." In a bid to uncover the purpose of his ringing, I complied with his questions. Ultimately, the crux of the matter emerged: he was fishing for the identity of my energy supplier. Upon disclosing this information, he pressed on to ask if I paid via direct debit. Once I confirmed that I did, he expressed his appreciation and promptly wrapped up the conversation. While he was indeed quite polite and respectful, I've come to realise he was indirectly probing for details about my energy provider, and I wouldn't be surprised if my mailbox soon overflows with promotional materials. I'm sharing this for the benefit of anyone else who might encounter similar telephone encounters, so you know the drill. Interestingly, I received a silent call from the same number just yesterday.

I was asked if I was (my name) and just as I was about to respond, the call abruptly cut out. They didn’t share any other information before it went silent. Quite odd, really!
