I got a call from this bloke who sounded like he thought he was some kinda celeb, all full of himself. He was asking about double glazing and loft insulation, saying they do free surveys. But when I tried to pass it on, the person in charge was busy on another call and said they'd ring back soon, telling me to hang tight. No call since, and honestly, feels a bit dodgy to me. If they do end up ringing back, I'll just tell them I'm on the TPS list and will report them if it's a bother.

His English wasn't clear, and since I’m hard of hearing, I just couldn’t catch what he was trying to say. When I told him that, he just ended the call.

I totally bungled it, didn’t make it clear I wasn’t interested, and ended up stuck on the phone with that energy scammer for a whole 45 minutes. In the end, I just wished the cheeky sod a slow and miserable end before hanging up politely.

Oh, they've been persistent, gotta give them that. This is about the third call in just a few weeks. They don’t seem to get that I’m in a ground floor flat so there’s no loft here, plus I’m not the one who could approve any of their work even if there was. I've now put my name down with the telephone preference service. Thinking about contacting the Northants police as well since they seem to be ringing loads of local numbers.

The one time someone actually spoke, they claimed to be from an energy firm saying there was something wrong with my insulation. They’ve never set foot in my home or checked anything. Since it’s a local number, I usually answer, thinking it might be the kids’ school. It’s definitely a scam.
