Got a call from a woman who said my name, but I didn’t respond. When I asked what company she was from, she barely whispered something about a “public awareness campaign” and then just cut off the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Mrs Wells from "Guardian Services" offering a demo for their "Home Safety Monitors," which sounded like some kind of health and burglar alarm setup. They actually used my name and mentioned their team would be in my area the next day to “spread the word.” They also said that police rarely respond to burglar alarms. Some lady rang me claiming she had the police's approval to call. She said there'd been 5000 break-ins in our area and they were just showing some gear, also told me I didn’t have to buy a thing. Funny, because there’s not even that many houses around here! We're on the TPS list and I plan to report them. Number’s been blocked now but I really think TPS ought to look into this one, there’s loads of complaints about it.

This guy called me claiming to be doing a police security survey for people with houses, asking if mornings or evenings suited me best for a callback. He kept hinting he was calling from the police force until I bluntly asked if he was actually a cop. He then confessed he wasn’t, but said he was somehow connected or registered with them. The noises in the background gave it away fairly quickly that there was no police station involved. Honestly, someone less wary would probably get caught up in this con. Be careful and steer clear!

This bloke called saying he wanted to inform locals about safety stuff, then mentioned some sort of Emergency response gadget he was pitching - not the exact phrase but that’s the general idea! I told him we’d had people try to flog those things before and we weren't interested at all. Then he just hung up. I’m on the TPS list too, but honestly it’s been pointless since I signed up years ago.
