I got a message from Equita saying I owed money for a parking fine, but the funny thing is, I’ve never even set foot in Northampton nor do I have a car. Seems strange how they came up with that! I’ve read that others have fallen for this too, so honestly, just don’t respond to their calls or texts - it’s definitely a con!

Absolute rip off. Couple years back, I got caught out by these lot about council tax debts. I went online and paid up using info from an Equita letter. Then my council got in touch saying they never got a penny and sent me another debt notice! I’d rang them first cause I was stressed and fed up, just to check. Watch yourselves, folks. If you’re not waiting on any financial updates or payments, just let unknown numbers ring off. Don’t fall for this SCAM number.

Be careful of these numbers 01604 628360 and +44 7507 236617, they’re sending scam texts. I live miles away and have never even been to the place they’re talking about, some council debt from a city I don't know. Proper fraudsters trying to trick folks. Keep your eyes open if you get messages from these numbers!

Got a text supposedly from Equita Ltd claiming I owe £279 for an unpaid Penalty Charge Notice linked to the London Borough of Camden. Problem is, I’m based in the Midlands and have never owned a car or been anywhere near Camden. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Looks like a total scam. Someone used my dad’s name and our address for some fake unpaid council tax claim. When he tried calling them back to sort it out, they got really rude and started shouting. My dad’s quite old and just didn’t want me to get into any trouble over something dodgy linked to our home. It was completely unnecessary. Eventually, they just hung up on him and never picked up when he rang again. I’m just going to bin the letter and not bother with any more stuff that turns up in the post!

I received a rather surprising phone call demanding payment for a fine linked to a vehicle I'd parted ways with over a month ago. It appears they had all the details regarding a CCTV incident where that very car was seen navigating a bus lane. Quite the coincidence, wouldn’t you say?

Equita just purchases the debt, so once they have it, the debt is paid off. You dont have any agreement with them and dont owe them a penny. Its simple contract law. Look into sites like beat the bailiffs for advice on dealing with them. Councils really shouldn't be sharing personal info, its a clear GDPR violation.

From what I understand, Equita just purchases the debt, so technically, once they've bought it, the debt is cleared. You don’t actually have any agreement with Equita themselves, so you don’t owe them anything. This is just basic stuff about contracts. You might want to look into websites like Beat the Bailiffs for advice on dealing with situations like this. Also, I reckon councils probably shouldn’t be sharing your information in the first place - that might be a breach of GDPR rules.

Got a text saying a bailiff was gonna contact me, telling me to ring 07956 048284 or 'Michael Furlonger' and mention reference 2318021. Looks like the number is linked to Equita, some firm based in a scruffy looking place down a private street in Northampton. People have been talking about them on here since at least 2015. How come nobody ever takes action against these dodgy companies?

This phone number is real. It belongs to Equita Ltd, a company often used by local councils for chasing debts. On their site, they say they focus on collecting council tax, business rates and traffic fines, plus they provide various commercial services and debt recovery options like sundry debts, housing benefit repayments and even High Court enforcement.

Equita is a dodgy company. I sorted out my council tax dispute back in January. The Tribunal isn’t until August. These so-called ‘debt collectors’ started bothering me over 7 weeks after I’d paid everything off. Now I’m taking legal action against them. They keep pestering me and I’ve told the judge this counts as contempt of court. The calls and texts just keep coming nonstop.

Equita It appears this lot resembles a bunch of despicable cowboys. Back in January, I settled what they called a ‘debt’ regarding my council tax. Now, with the Tribunal set for August, I've taken the so-called ‘debt collectors’ to court since they've started their relentless harassment more than seven weeks after I cleared the whole thing up. Despite them being well aware of the resolution, they persist in their calls and messages. I've even brought this ongoing harassment to the attention of the judge, citing it as an act of contempt. The nuisance just won’t quit!

I've had quite the ordeal with this shoddy cowboy outfit. Back in January, I addressed the whole saga about my council tax 'debt' that I disputed. Can you believe the tribunal meeting isn’t until August? Meanwhile, I've decided to take these so-called 'debt collectors' to court since they began their relentless harassment over seven weeks after I resolved the so-called 'debt'. They just won’t let up! I've raised the issue of their constant pestering with the judge, as it feels very much like contempt of court. Regrettably, the phone calls and texts keep flooding in. It's a right mess!

I won't engage in conversation unless you can provide a specific name. Moreover, I'm unable to disclose the balance due as that's against policy! The caller abruptly ended the call. We've been requesting receipts for our payments, yet none have been issued, and I would like a detailed explanation of the outstanding debt.

I've been getting letters about owing money for some penalty but they dont say what its for or the amount owed. Tried calling the number but no one answers and it just cuts me off. Definitely feels like a scam, better block this company quick before they scam more people.

Today I got a letter from Equita like the ones other people have mentioned, saying I was in London on 8th Jan 2019 and owe a motoring fine. I wasnt even in London at that time. This has got to be a scam. If they’ve been doing this for years, why hasn’t anything been done to stop them?

Received a letter saying I parked in a residential spot in Chelmsford back on 7/1/2019. Thing is, I've never even been to Chelmsford and I live up in Scotland. Plus, I had family visiting just before Christmas, they only left mid-January. No car registration mentioned either, so this has got to be a scam. Don't call them, report it to both the police and council straight away!

Received a letter from this number claiming to be from "EQUITA". I do have some debts but the notice doesnt mention any amounts or details. The letter looked dodgy, like the printer ran out of ink mid-way. It came in a handwritten envelope with the address taped on. When I called, they said I'd talked to them before, but I honestly never have. Feels like a scam to me. Do yourself a favour and dont respond to their letter or answer their calls!

I've received some dodgy letters from them without any specifics regarding the supposed violation, like the car registration or the location of this alleged incident. What's more, the letter landed on my doorstep well after I could have responded to it. To make matters worse, the alleged offence took place on a day when I had actually been sent home from work ill, leaving me bedridden for three days following that. It's all rather baffling, to say the least!

It's so frustrating, they keep ringing an elderly person nonstop even after being told they're vulnerable. When told, they just said 'we don’t care'. I had to block the number. EQUITA just ignores all the complaint emails. The government really needs to step in and sort these awful companies out.

I got a letter delivered to my house and decided to call the number on it. The first time I called, they just cut me off. On the second call, they asked for loads of personal details, which I didn’t feel comfortable giving, and wouldn’t say what the call was about either. I accused them of trying to phish info, and they just said "right" and hung up. From the dial tones, it sounded like the people answering were English and based in the UK. I also told them I was recording the call because of the new data protection rules, they acknowledged it but still ended the call!
