Someone pretending to be from Opus Energy keeps ringing me, always asking for the address on the account. When I question if they mean the supply or billing address, they usually say "let me check, oh actually the problem’s been sorted" and then just hang up. Feels like their info might have leaked somewhere but they only have part of the details, so can’t tell which address is which. Once they realise they don’t have enough info to make it believable, they drop the call fast. If you do pick up, try asking which address they want - they’ll probably do the same disappearing act.

Tried checking some security details with me, but obviously I couldn’t confirm anything since it’s not us. Wouldn’t promise to stop calling or even tell me which address they were after. Complete con! Bill was due on 1st August, I paid it at 9.15am on 2nd August, and within half an hour I got a call saying my payment was late. I told them I’d just paid. Then this guy with a Scottish accent said I needed to pay by credit card now, ‘cos the payment wouldn’t show up in the Opus account for like ten days. I told him to shove it and he hung up. I called back and got someone else with a Scottish accent who insisted it wasn’t a scam, then quickly ended the call. Total rubbish.

Keeps asking for some random firm called Nicholls & Co or something, whoever they are. They rang me twice from the same number but had different voices. Both times they told the same tale. Don’t give out any info to these callers, especially about your supply address.

But when I gave a different address than the one they had on their system, the bloke with the thick Scottish accent said that’s not correct (which it wasn’t) and claimed he’d have to send ‘something’ out to check. Nearly missed the phone ringing, then 1471 showed this number. Had almost the exact same scam last year, totally freaked me out and gave me a massive panic attack.
