Some young woman said she was calling from Microsoft. Normally, I just hang up after telling them to find a real job, but this time I decided to humour her for a bit. She wanted me to switch my computer on, but I said it was already on. Then she asked me to hold on, and promptly vanished. I ended the call. A couple of minutes later, she rang back all annoyed that I’d cut her off. I told her I knew it was a scam, which only made her more angry, so I just hung up for good.

I received a call purporting to be from Microsoft regarding my computer. Despite my insistence that I would double-check her phone number, she persisted in her claims. She even threatened that my computer would be locked down. I reminded her that I’d faced similar threats in the past and expressed my scepticism about her legitimacy as a Microsoft representative.

Got a call early on a Saturday from someone claiming to be with Microsoft. When I told the woman it wasn’t alright to ring me outside of work hours and that I’d be reporting the number, she got pretty annoyed. It’s clear it was a scam, pretty annoying and could be risky too. Plus, it really put me in a bad mood first thing in the morning.

I keep getting these calls about some kind of ‘Microsoft issue’, but today’s was a bit different. The bloke sounded proper British and was easy to understand. He claimed to be ringing from Microsoft Corporation. I just nicely asked him to send an email about the problem instead and then ended the call.

Somebody rang, saying they were from Microsoft. I told them straight I didn’t buy it. He kept pushing that he was from MS though. Then I flipped it and called him out as a scammer. Still, he swore he was legit. Got annoyed and started giving him a right earful, yet he didn’t back down from the Microsoft claim! I finally ended the call, only for him to ring me again after a couple of minutes. These types are no joke - so calm and persistent, pretending to be helpful just to catch you out.

Complete con! Some bloke claimed to be from Microsoft and said my PC was hacked and involved in dodgy stuff. When I told him I wouldn’t switch it on, he asked why, and I told him I knew he wasn’t legit. Then he just cursed at me and slammed the phone down. Not falling for that rubbish again!

Got a call claiming to be from Microsoft saying my PC was hacked. Like, what PC? 🤔 They didn’t stick around long before just hanging up. In just a couple of hours, got two dodgy calls both supposedly from Microsoft. Both had accents that didn’t sound local, one number looked like it was from Northampton, the other was a London 02087527214. Proper annoying! 😠

Totally a scam, said they were calling from Microsoft. My mum got loads of calls this morning from different numbers. They even had the nerve to say that we were the ones harassing them. I received a call from a lady with an American twang, accompanied by some chatter in the background. She seemed to be aware of our surname and claimed she was representing Microsoft. I couldn’t help but respond, “You haven’t a clue about our computer. Quit trying to pull a fast one.” Just as I hung up, I caught her muttering, “Oh my goodness,” which left me feeling a tad remorseful afterwards. This was actually her second attempt to get in touch today. The initial call came from 01923609902 and then there was this one from 01604261009.

Saw a post from 21/11 that broke down how these scams operate and where to report them, like Action Fraud. I’ve already filed a report about the call I got, which was pretty straightforward. Still, I reckon it’s gonna need loads of people reporting these calls before the police actually take action on the numbers or the scams involved.

Somebody rang saying they were from TalkTalk. I asked them to confirm my home address, and they actually knew it. Afterwards, I just ended the call. Then I contacted TalkTalk myself to report it, and they said they weren't familiar with that number. They mentioned they'd add it to their scam watch list.

This bloke insisted he was calling from the internet, but I told him that couldn't be right since I don’t even have internet at home. Then he just snapped, “oh, bugger off,” and slammed the phone down. Lovely chap, that one.

I've been getting persistent calls from this number, 0164261009, and every single time there's nothing but silence on the other end. If you happen to receive a call from them, best to just hang up or simply ignore it altogether.

Got a call from 01604261009 today, this bloke claimed he was with Virgin Media and told me my Internet IP was at risk. Right away, I knew it was dodgy, even though he sounded pretty believable and wanted me to jot down a number. I said no way and he just ended the call. He rang at 8.18am, and when I mentioned I’d only just got up, he said something like “well, we begin work at 8am.” Total scam, no doubt.

I saw a missed call from a Northampton number on my 1471, which was odd since I don't usually get calls from that area. So I looked it up here and noticed loads of people reporting similar calls with bad reviews. That pretty much backed up my gut feeling to ignore it since I avoid unknown STD codes anyway. Cheers for the useful site!

Somebody said they were calling from Microsoft and started quizzing me about my wifi. I thought I'd have a bit of fun and gave some daft replies since it had nothing to do with them. After a while, the guy turned really nasty and started saying all sorts of inappropriate things.

The individual who phoned me initially claimed to be from BT. When I informed him that I wasn’t a BT customer, he quickly switched his spiel to Virgin. He then inquired about the colour of the light on my router; I replied it was yellow, to which he insisted it ought to be green. I wasn't keen on continuing the conversation, so I hung up. To my surprise, he called back almost immediately, insisting it was a pressing matter because I'd supposedly been hacked. I stated I was terminating the call, and he began to sound quite aggressive. Once again, I cut him off, but he persisted with more calls. I decided against answering any further.

This number rang me up saying they were from BT Openreach, checking into my internet and broadband usage. The bloke had a noticeable foreign accent and warned me that some foreign IP addresses were supposedly tracking me, trying to nick my data. I asked for my Openreach account number, and he gave a six-digit code that didn’t ring any bells. When I said I’d double-check with BT directly, he got a bit shifty and asked why I’d bother, since he claimed to be from BT. I told him it sounded like a dodgy scam call, and he got defensive straight away. I just ended the call after that.

I received a rather suspicious phone call from this number, with a chap claiming to be from BT Openreach, looking into my broadband and internet usage. He had a noticeable foreign accent and warned me that foreign IP addresses were allegedly tracking my activities, with intentions to pilfer my personal data. When I inquired about my BT Openreach account, he provided me with a six-digit figure that was utterly unfamiliar. Upon mentioning that I intended to reach out to BT for verification, he seemed rather perturbed, asking why I would do such a thing since he was supposedly representing BT. I expressed my suspicion that this might be a scam, leading him to become increasingly defensive. I ultimately chose to end the call.

Received a call from someone purporting to be with BT Openreach, asking me to verify the internet speeds I was experiencing. They were quite chatty and seemed to know a fair bit, mentioning that my speeds weren't quite up to par. However, I've a mind to be cautious about unsolicited calls like this. When he casually brought up Sky as my provider, I immediately knew it was dodgy, seeing as I'm not with them at all.

Dodgy call. Some bloke with an Indian accent claimed to be from BT, said there were all sorts of issues with my broadband on their side. He wanted me to look at the light on my router then told me to Google ‘what is my IP address’. When I said I can spell alright and refused to give out my IP, he started getting kind of sarcastic. Asked him where he was calling from and he got all defensive, insisting I’d been hacked and needed to be careful. As soon as I told him I’d just ring BT myself, his voice turned all annoyed and a bit aggressive. Total scam.

I had a rather peculiar encounter with a chap named David Gray, who claimed he was affiliated with Openreach and subsequently BT. He inquired if I was experiencing any issues with my landline.
