I received a phone call from this number at 19:36, and the woman introduced herself as Peggy, claiming to be calling from what sounded like Norton and Sharpley. Her accent was quite thick, and when I asked her to repeat herself, it still came out as Norton and Sharpley. I informed her that I wasn’t familiar with that name and promptly ended the call. However, it only dawned on me later that she might have actually been referring to Northamptonshire Police. Having had prior encounters with the police, I’m fully aware that they usually conceal their caller ID. After doing a bit of online research, I’ve stumbled across several comments from others who’ve had similar experiences, where individuals impersonate the police and attempt to extract personal information. I’m relieved I decided to hang up, as I refuse to divulge any personal information over the phone. If the police truly need to reach you, they will typically come to your residence first and will inform you if a phone call is forthcoming, giving you a heads-up.
