They kept ringing me, even tho I blocked em on BT Call Guardian. Got a couple of calls anyway. When I called back with my number hidden, some recorded voice said it was from Zebra or sumthin’ in sales and marketing. Didn’t bother going along with their script. Still blocked their number, but gonna wait and see if they try again.

This number seems to call almost every day, but just ends up hanging up. The other day my elderly mum picked up and it was some guy claiming to be from “the institute for the blind”. I stayed nearby and overheard him ask her to donate four separate times! That’s when I grabbed the phone and ended the call. Honestly, no proper charity would keep pestering for a donation like that. I’m also pretty concerned about how they managed to get hold of her number when it’s meant to be ex-directory.

A very polite woman called asking if I knew anyone who had lost their sight, then mentioned how many had struggled with loneliness and anxiety during the lockdown. She asked if I'd consider donating £12 a month to RNIB. I declined, but she repeated her pitch and lowered the amount to £8, saying they needed to train people as phone advisors. Eventually, she dropped it to £3 a month. I explained that given money's tight right now, I already give to three different charities and supporting RNIB would mean I'd have to drop one of them. She wasn’t happy about it, but I just stood firm.

I told them I’m dealing with a long-term illness myself, but they kept pushing for money. They started off asking for £8 a month, then dropped it to £5, and then £3.
