I've received several calls from this number, but I chose not to pick up. Out of curiosity, I dialled 1471 to find out who it was. One day, my wife inadvertently answered, and she queried the caller on how they’d obtained our number since we’re ex-directory. They replied that they purchase phone numbers, which is how our number ended up being dialled. Quite alarming!

I didn't quite get the name of the company, but the lady said they call for Aviva and some other insurance companies. She asked about my life insurance, mentioned I'd checked it recently and everything was fine. Then she asked if I had buildings and contents insurance. I told her I do, and that I make sure to review it yearly, so nothing needed changing. She ended the chat after that.

This particular number has been calling me repeatedly, but I decided against answering. I dialled 1471 to find out who was behind the calls. When I managed to get through, my friend wanted to know how they obtained our number since we’re on the ex-directory list. They mentioned they purchase phone numbers and that's how they ended up ringing us! Quite concerning, really.

Just got a call on my phone. They tried to address me with the wrong title but got my surname right. The caller was a woman with a Geordie accent saying she was from Smart Assessment. I told her no one by that name lives here and no one linked to this mobile has either. I asked her to say who she was again, then told her I'd be reporting them to the ICO since they'd never been given permission to ring this number.

Guy with a Scottish accent rang up asking about my personal insurance. I said I doubt anyone would cover me. He kept pushing, and I kept saying no one would insure me. Let him ramble a bit then hit him with "I'm TERMINAL, so do you still wanna insure me?" No reply. Total rubbish call. FYI, I'm not actually terminal, just wanted to see his reaction. Cheers.

So annoying when they call. You can usually spot it cause there's this weird pause just before the bot connects you to those tw@ts. Best thing to do is either feed them total rubbish or just block the number straight away. Like someone else said here, I only answer numbers I’ve saved in my phone, everyone else gets ignored. Also, FYI, if you don’t pick up, the bot usually rings about 4 or 5 times before moving onto the next poor sod. Stay safe, all the best!

I ignored the call and looked up the number here after it was automatically blocked (I only pick up from contacts I've saved myself). This kind of stuff started happening a lot since I used gocompare to get car insurance. They must've sold my details on a list. You can't trust anyone nowadays, but it has to be them since it’s a brand new phone and apart from family, I hadn’t given my number out before going to gocompare. No clue who called, but I’m sure gocompare are the ones who gave my number away.
