They already had our last name, probably from some public list like the electoral roll. Then they asked if we’d heard about a government plan to replace old oil boilers with gas ones. Next, they wanted to know if we were receiving any benefits, rattling off several types that would qualify. When we said we weren’t on any, they just hung up. Honestly, it was more bother than it was worth, and I reckon this kind of call could easily upset older folks.

Received a dodgy call regarding Eco Boilers. We’ve since put a block on it.

I’m listed on the do not call list and have opted out of all cold calls, but these scumbags keep ringing me up. Honestly, the people running these firms deserve to be locked up. It’s so wrong how they hassle pensioners like us. Properly disgusting behaviour.

I must admit, I was a tad taken aback when I received a call from what I thought was a local number. The caller requested to chat with my husband but was quite tight-lipped about the purpose of the call. He wouldn’t share any details with me at all. In a rather dramatic fashion, I passed the phone to my husband, exclaiming rather loudly about how ‘he refuses to talk to me!’ But before a conversation could happen, the caller abruptly hung up. We've since decided to block that number altogether.

I'd be careful trusting a word they say, honestly.

This number's been calling us quite a bit, including today, 18.12.2018. We checked it out because it kept bugging us, and now we just don’t pick up. It's really irritating.

Got a call out of the blue, they tried to sound official saying it was from some government initiative. Didn’t even bother mentioning we’re on the no-calls list. Typical unsolicited rubbish.

I had a hunch that my name had somehow been compromised, which suggests there’s been a breach of some kind. I’ve gone ahead and reported it to the ICO. The caller was rambling on about a government initiative regarding boilers but wouldn't reveal their identity. Very suspicious, if you ask me.

It appears they were prying for individuals on benefits eligible for a new boiler. A surveyor popped by to assess the place and was keen for us to endorse the installation of a new boiler. Something felt off, and we had our suspicions. Consequently, we chose not to put pen to paper. The surveyor seemed rather perturbed at our refusal to comply. Unsure whether it was dodgy or not, the takeaway from this experience is clear: if you're in need of something, seek it out yourself and steer clear of unsolicited callers. It feels like we dodged a bullet here.

Basically, they seem to be after people on benefits who might be eligible for a new boiler. They sent someone round to check the place and then asked us to sign for a replacement. It didn’t sit right with us, so we said no. The bloke surveying got a bit annoyed when we wouldn’t put pen to paper. Not sure if it was some kind of scam or not. The takeaway? If you want something, go chase it yourself - don’t fall for random cold calls. Felt like we dodged a bullet there.

The guy on the phone was very polite and sounded like he worked in a call centre. He somehow knew our surname and said he was calling all homes in East Anglia about a new government scheme for houses that don’t use mains gas. He asked about the age of our oil heating system. Once we told him we run a business at the address, he quickly said goodbye and ended the call without any fuss.
