Got a call from some bloke named Nathan from National Business Sales asking to speak to the business owner. I was saying we've already told his firm loads of times that the owner doesn’t do cold calls, but he just hung up on me mid-sentence. Honestly, you’d think his mum taught him some manners!

They first asked for the owner, then went on to request the boss by their name. About 10 minutes later they phoned back - this time the reply was a polite, "you called 10 minutes ago, we’re not looking to speak with you." Absolutely annoying call.

Got a call from someone called Nuala at National Business, asking to speak to the boss about a ‘confidential business matter’. When I asked what exactly she meant, she just said it was about the business intentions. I told her that wasn’t her concern and then she said I was being rude! I said cold calling is rude and then just hung up.

A few years ago, I played along with a similar caller, pretending we wanted to sell the business. They even tried to set up a meeting with someone from their team, and another chap called us about a week later. We just told them we’d changed our minds. They might be genuine buyers, but we’re just not interested.
