I received a call from someone purporting to be an energy consultant for a so-called government-endorsed firm boasting over 300 certifications. Sounds a bit fishy to me! It seems like I’m being targeted for one of those dubious 'complimentary safety inspections' for my solar panels, only for them to pressure me into purchasing a pricey new inverter. A legitimate business would surely realise that I’m on the Telephone Preference Service list and wouldn’t bother contacting me. It’s a shame, but it feels like the world is teeming with opportunists eager to relieve you of your hard-earned cash - buyer beware!

Like many others have said, they keep ringing even after I told them I’m on the do not call register. I reckon it’s Anglia Home Improvements behind it - they’ve bothered me with calls for ages now.

Yeah, I got a call from someone claiming they could remove me from their calling list, but guess what? They didn’t follow through. They said the government’s handing out heaps of money for energy bills and they could assist. If only! I reckon the government’s probably got bigger fish to fry right now.

Got a call from someone saying they were from 'Home Energy' wanting to come and check our loft insulation. When I flat out said no, the woman got a bit annoyed and started warning me it could be dangerous if unchecked! I mentioned we’re on the TPS list and she argued it wasn’t a cold call, claiming our number came from some One Call database. I told her to take our number off their list and not to get in touch again. When I said I’d be looking into the company, she just replied, 'Enjoy yourself'! Pretty clear it’s a scam.

Got a call about energy savings the other day. I mentioned loads of scams going around these times. She replied, "we're a proper company, not like the rest." Then I told her I wanted to use my GDPR right to be erased from their records, and she was totally clueless. Proper dodgy and breaking the law, if you ask me!

He somehow knew my name straight away, but as usual I asked who it was. Then he switched to a really friendly tone, like we were old mates just having a natter. He said he was a local Energy Efficiency advisor. I told him I didn’t need any help with that, thanked him for calling but made it clear my time was precious too, then gave him a polite goodbye. I’ll be blocking this number next - it appeared as an international call on my phone, so I bet he changes numbers often.

It's a trick to make you believe the call is from someone nearby, but don't be fooled - it's not local at all!
