Got a call about some credit card charges from Amazon and an overseas bank transfer. I know the bank transfer definitely wasn’t me, though I do shop on Amazon sometimes. Thing is, it came from a local landline, which seemed odd since my bank and credit card company aren’t anywhere near here. I looked over my pending payments on both my card and bank accounts, and nothing matched what they mentioned. So yeah, definitely a scam, even if it sounded pretty legit. I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a call around 9.15 this morning from a number sharing my area code, which made it seem like it was from my local bank. The voice said it was from my credit card company, warning that purchases totalling £1300 had just gone through on my card. They wanted me to press a button to sort it out but I refused to do so! Really sneaky trick, especially since having the same area code as mine made me almost believe it was genuine.
