6 yearsI received a concerning call on our home phone directed at my 83-year-old mother. The caller claimed to be from Amazon, stating her account had suffered a breach. They kept her engaged for an agonising two hours, probing her about her banking details and whether she used online banking services. They even persuaded her to download the Amazon app onto her mobile phone. Understandably, she became quite distressed and ultimately ended the call, only to be overwhelmed with nausea from the anxiety it caused. We’ve since contacted her bank's fraud department, and thankfully, they confirmed that there were no irregularities on her account.
