6 yearsMy elderly mum, who’s 83, got a call on our landline from someone pretending to be Amazon. They told her her account was compromised and managed to keep her talking for nearly two hours, asking a load of questions about her bank details and whether she uses online banking. They even persuaded her to download the Amazon app onto her phone. The whole thing left her really distressed, and after she finally ended the call, she got terribly sick from the stress. We’ve checked with her bank’s fraud department, who confirmed there’s no funny business on her account.
