I seem to be inundated with three or four calls daily from this number, claiming to be from BT. It's rather frustrating, wouldn't you agree? I do wonder if BT ought to take some action to address this matter.

Got a phone call around 3 in the afternoon from someone claiming to be from internet security. It was a foreign guy on the line. I told him I didn’t trust the call at all. He asked me to say it again, and as soon as I did, he just dropped the call. Looks like I dodged a bullet this time.

Got a call from 01596874521 about my internet being hacked. The lady didn't introduce herself or ask for my name, just straight away asked for my internet password. I refused to give it, then she passed me onto a bloke claiming to be a supervisor, but he also kept his name to himself. Their accents sounded foreign, so I asked where he was calling from and he said London. After that, I rang up BT customer service to check the number, and they told me it was a scam since BT numbers usually begin with 0800.

Fake call alert! They claim to be from BT's internet security team. I’ve gotten around 20 calls like this, but only just answered one for the first time.

I received a rather peculiar call from a woman named Lisa, who claimed to be phoning from London. She mentioned something about an issue with my internet connection. When I requested that she verify my address, she promptly responded with a rather rude “Go to hell.” Quite delightful, wasn’t it? 😒 Please be wary of such scams!

Got a dodgy call earlier, there was this bit of a pause when I picked up which usually means it’s from some overseas call centre. Then some bloke who said his name was John, and his English was pretty rubbish, claimed he was from BT Internet. I didn’t hang about, told him where to go in no uncertain terms, called him a scammer, and said I’m blocking his number right now.

My landline gets calls every day around 1pm from an international number. I never answer and no voicemail is left. Seems like a total scam to me!

This morning we got around five calls from a lady saying she was from BT. Each time we ended the call, she rang straight back and demanded to know why we had put the phone down! She claimed she was ringing from the UK, but the phone clearly showed it was an International number. She got quite nasty and we had to tell her off. She tried to get us to log onto our computer so she could “fix” our internet issues. Definitely not BT. She was rude and pushy. Every time we hung up, she phoned back again, using threatening language to try and scare us. Don't fall for it! This is a total scam.

A woman with a noticeable Asian accent rang me up, seemingly baffled about how to ascertain my identity. She insisted that I needed to sign into my Internet, claiming it was being accessed by someone unapproved. When I politely declined, she threatened to cut off my Internet and stressed the urgency of the situation. I made it clear that I didn’t trust her and was about to disconnect the call, at which point she raised her voice quite alarmingly. It’s a shame really; she must be in a bit of a pickle! I can’t help but wonder if someone is coercing her into this sort of thing.

I recently experienced something very similar. What's the best way to report this or put a stop to it?

This woman called saying she was from BT, but her English was awful. She claimed there was an issue with our internet that was causing problems with sending and receiving emails, and said it was putting our laptops and iPhones at risk. I just hung up after that.

I've been getting calls from this number non-stop, and it's really getting on my nerves! Today, I picked up the phone, and the bloke on the other end claimed to be "John from BT." Curious, I asked him what he was calling about. To my surprise, this rather impolite chap had the audacity to retort in a rather dodgy Asian accent, "Can’t you grasp simple English?" I found it utterly hilarious, so I just hung up!

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, saying they were trying to protect me from hackers apparently dialing from some place in Asia. They said I should log on so they could fix everything...? When I asked what to enter, they told me to put in ##. I told the person to get lost and they then gave me the number 01596874521. Quite suspicious if you ask me!

Total scam alert, they said they were from BT. I had a go at stalling them to waste their time. Loads of folks still get tricked by these con artists, so maybe by messing about with them, I’m helping someone else dodge getting scammed.

I’ve been getting calls from this number multiple times each day lately. Just the once, a few weeks back, I picked up and a person claimed to be from an energy firm. I politely declined and ended the call. Then just last night, I answered again, but there was nothing but silence on the other end. I really wish they’d just stop calling me!

Got a call today from a UK number claiming to be BT about my broadband account. They asked to speak to the account holder. I told them I'm on the TPS but got told that doesn't matter since it wasn’t a business call. They rang me twice, once just after 1pm and again around 3pm. Oddly, they said “good evening” both times! When I said I’m not even with BT, they started getting a bit pushy, so I just hung up. Time to dig out my piercing whistle and keep it handy by the phone - these lot are proper scammers!

Today, I received a call from a woman with an Indian accent, purporting to be from BT Openreach. She was insisting that there was an issue with my internet security and asked me to access my computer so she could "assist" me. Not a chance! This is clearly a dodgy scam. Beware and don’t be taken in by it!

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT, saying my internet was compromised and hackers were at it. Typical scam nonsense, asking me to turn on my PC. When I questioned if they were messing about and said they didn’t sound like fraudsters, the woman just cut me off. What really bothers me is that some unlucky person might fall for this. Why can't we invent some gadget that shocks these scammers through the phone? Bet it’d sell like hotcakes!

I'm getting calls from Aussie numbers, seems like part of some worldwide phishing scam. This all started around the same time as some updates to IBN, which makes me worry it's linked. Fingers crossed it's not a hacking attempt aimed at someone's personal info in a telecom company or something.
