Usually, they don’t hang up straight away and say sorry for the trouble. I guess they’ve been told to be careful about calling people who might take legal action.

I keep getting calls for a Mr Young, a bloke who’s never lived at this address. The callers never say who they are or why they reckon he’s here. When I try calling back, the number just doesn’t exist according to BT. They ring us pretty often, maybe a couple of times each week. To make it worse, I also get calls from some international “Unavailable” number asking for the same Mr Young. Tried sorting it through Ofcom and info services but no luck at all. Got a call earlier today asking for a Mr Young. That person’s never lived at this address, nor does he now. They call quite often but refuse to say who they are or why they believe Mr Young is here. I got a call from someone who spelled out my info spot on. When I asked how they found my number, they said it was from some consumer list. I told them I’m signed up with the telephone preference service and to take me off their calling list. They then asked me for my TPS ID, but I just repeated to take me off. Got a call around 2:36pm from a bloke with a Middle Eastern accent who asked for me by first name, but with the wrong last name. Got a call from a woman claiming she needed me for a consumer survey. Said no thanks but she kept pushing, so I told her to piss off and hung up. She rang back less than 10 seconds later, same woman, threatening to report me for abuse! Got a call from an Indian bloke named Mike. He already knew my name and where I live. He claimed to be from some place called Birds View, from what I gathered, and kept firing questions at me. When I didn’t answer and asked him how he got my info and if he was legit, he turned really rude; shouting and calling me a daft old woman and an idiot! Proper unpleasant guy, made me feel really uneasy - these kinds of calls and companies ought to be banned!

I got a call from someone asking for my address and when I said no, they just told me to "go to hell". Honestly, I'm so fed up with these constant calls. Can't parliament do something and make a law to put an end to this madness?

This morning my phone kept buzzing from this same number, like 8 times in just an hour. Every time my answering machine started, they just hung up straight away. Luckily, I've got caller ID so I can see who's ringing me and decide if I wanna pick up or not, which is super handy. Also, blocking calls from withheld numbers is another smart move I’d recommend.

Got a silent call where no one said a word. Funny thing is, 01596 is actually the area code for Keswick in Cumbria.

Got a call in the late morning, but when I answered, there was just a robotic voice telling me goodbye. No one actually came on the line.

Got a call about 8:30 in the morning, but I was still in bed feeling a bit unwell, so I just let it ring. Earlier at 8:00 am, I picked up a call from 01287281344 right after getting up and going to the loo, but no one was on the line. This has happened three times over the past few days now, and honestly, it’s pretty unsettling.

Today, I got two calls from Birdview. The first bloke said if I answered a couple of questions, he’d remove my number from their list. I told him no and he just hung up on me. Then, the second person called and when I mentioned someone had already rung me, he started arguing. He even said they’d keep ringing until I answered their questions. When I pushed back again, they ended the call straight away.

So, I got a call earlier and when I told them the person they were asking for wasn’t around, they wanted to know who I was. I told them it was none of their business, and then they had the nerve to accuse me of cheating with the homeowner’s husband! I was completely shocked and told them I’d be reporting them before I ended the call. Now I see you can’t even ring the number back. Honestly, their behaviour was just awful and really caught me off guard.

Then the second person called and got all argumentative when I told him I’d already been contacted. He warned they’d keep calling until I spoke to someone. When I pushed back, they ended the call again. Quite annoying!

01596580741 rang me at 8.45 but there was noone there when I picked up. I usually get about a couple calls daily from numbers like this. One time someone tried to check if I had a credit card.

These calls can be really unsettling, especially if you’re older or on your own. After a long pause, you suddenly hear a woman’s voice softly saying goodbye, and it’s quite creepy. What’s the point of that?

THIS IS DEFINITELY A BT SCAM! YES, BT! They want you to PAY for 'BT Call Minder' just to get rid of these calls. If BT ain't behind this, then these companies that keep ringing should be taken to court for harassment and shut down for good!

I got a call from them, and even though the TPS didn't block it, my BT call minder picked it up. Such a handy setup!

My phone buzzed and when I picked up, there was nothing but silence, though the call stayed on for quite a while. I couldn’t hear any dial tone and couldn’t hang up no matter what I tried. Ended up just waiting for them to let go of the call so I could use my phone again.

I used 1471 to check who rang me, it said if you wanna call back press 3. So I did, then a friendly BT woman answered and told me the number wasn’t found. She said to double-check the number and try again!

Happened to me too, they ring in the morning and then again early evening. Wish I had a way to block them, the lot in charge need to get moving and actually do something about it.

Got a call at half past eight on Saturday morning, but the second I picked up, they just put the phone down. I’ve registered with the TPS too, but it clearly doesn’t help much when the calls come from overseas. Even if the number looks British, like 0203, chances are it’s being forwarded somewhere abroad. Quite frustrating!
