Just had a ring, they asked if I’m the energy account holder for an address I might’ve lived at ages ago? Sounds like a total phishing scam trying to get you to say yes or no so they can confirm your personal info. First they get your address, then they’ll probably try for your birth date and other stuff next time.

Got loads of missed calls from this number. Finally picked up today and an automated voice said it was the tax office and that my name was involved in some tax fraud claim. It told me to press 1 to speak to HMRC about it or else they’d issue a warrant for my arrest. Sounds like a total scam to me, so I just blocked the number.

Some energy firm claimed to beat the big six on price, and they even knew my first name and who I was with. When I said I wasn’t with them anymore, they asked which company I was with now and how much I was paying. I didn’t give them any details so they just hung up. Definitely not a call centre, sounded like they were calling from someone’s house or maybe a tiny, empty room, or even a bathroom with how echoey and rubbish the call quality was. Wonder if anyone can guess which supplier they were pushing?

Got called at around 3 in the afternoon, the number said it was from Kirkcaldy. I don’t know anyone from there so I just ignored it and blocked the number straight away. I always do that when it’s a number I don’t recognise. Don’t really want to take the chance of racking up some crazy call charges. Probably just someone trying to push stuff I don’t need or can’t afford anyway.

The person on the phone knew my name and claimed to be calling from British Gas. They even stated my address, which was right, but I’ve never had an account with British Gas here since I don’t pay the bills. When I told them this, they just hung up.
