I got a call on my home phone from a bloke whose accent was hard to make out. He said he was calling about stopping unwanted calls, and somehow he already had my name and address. I felt a bit iffy, but then he asked me to confirm the last four digits of my debit card. That set alarm bells ringing straight away! I told him I had no clue, and he said he’d hang on while I looked it up. I quickly said I’d switched banks, wasn’t interested, and put the phone down. At 75, I know I could have easily fallen for something like that.

Avoid getting involved. Don’t respond to any promotional questions. Just block the caller’s number. It’s one of those marketing calls that just triggers a flood of even more annoying calls. I told them they had my first name wrong, and made them correct it in their database. But then, calls from different firms started coming through asking for that name. Had to block those numbers as well. They won’t take you off their contact lists.

Got a random sales call from some company trying to ask me a bunch of questions. Told them to take me off their list and not call again.

Got a call from this number out of the blue. I have absolutely no clue who they were. Honestly, these cold calls should be banned altogether.

Had no clue who was calling, they actually asked for me by my name. I told them I wasn’t around but asked if I could assist with anything. They just said no and then cut the call.

They rang me three times back-to-back and I ignored every call. I've blocked the number now.

I couldn’t quite catch the name of the company, maybe it was something like UK National? It was a guy with an Indian accent, and honestly, his accent was pretty hard for me to make out.

I had no clue who it was. There was just dead silence when I picked up, and then they hung up straight away.

I just ignored the call and ended up blocking the number straight away.

I didn’t pick up the call at first because the number was unfamiliar. When I called back later, they kept trying to talk to me. I’ve never had any contact with whoever owns that number and they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail or anything.
