9 yearsGot a call about 11:43 today, some bloke with a thick Asian accent claimed to be from BT tech support. His English was terrible, and he was spouting nonsense about my landline being hacked or something. I just told him to get lost. Tried to report it to the police fraud hotline, but they weren’t bothered at all, kept passing me around to different departments. From reading on other sites, it sounds like these scams are all about getting into your PC. Seems to be happening a lot these days, but if just a few people fall for it, that’s when it turns into a serious crime.BT9 yearsIt would certainly lift the spirits of many if the authorities took a moment to pay a visit to the individual behind this number (which could easily be tracked down via BT). Yet, it seems there’s little enthusiasm for action until, tragically, an unsuspecting elderly person is fleeced of their hard-earned savings. It’s high time our politicians and law enforcement pulled their socks up. The tolerance of such disgraceful conduct is a clear sign that society is slowly coming apart at the seams!9 yearsGot a call from a guy with a thick Indian accent claiming he was from BT broadband. I told him we don’t even have BT, and he just cut off the call straight away.BT9 yearsReceived a phone call purporting to be from BT, insisting that my internet had encountered some suspicious connections which could pose a risk. When I asked for a callback number, he provided one that didn’t exist at all... clearly a scam!BT9 yearsSimilar to other encounters, I received a call from someone purporting to be from BT, their accent heavily laced with Indian tones (which isn’t particularly unusual). They informed me that my computer had been compromised. Upon inquiring about the particular make of my computer, they asked, "Do you possess a Windows machine?" to which I promptly replied that I didn’t. Undeterred, they then pressed for details about what I did have. I fibbed and mentioned I was using a few Unix-based systems, and to my surprise, they remained on the line. I proceeded to elaborate that I was a senior technical support engineer with a career in IT stretching back to 1974 (which is indeed accurate), and emphasised that I had more than enough expertise to tackle any issues with my devices without needing assistance from chaps like him. At this point, he swiftly terminated the call. It was one of the more entertaining exchanges with a scammer - I truly relish the chance to draw out their time!9 yearsI received a dubious call purporting to be from BT, claiming that my internet security was at risk. The thing is, I'm actually with Virgin. When I cheekily suggested I could save him some time by simply handing over my bank info, he promptly ended the call. Quite the character, wasn't he?BTVirgin9 yearsGot a call earlier from a bloke with an Asian accent, claiming he was calling from BT tech support. I just cut him off right away since we don’t even have BT. Can’t wait for that phone blocker gadget I bought yesterday to get here and stop these calls!BT9 yearsReceived a call at 14:52 today. When I picked up, it was as if I was met with silence, then an automated woman's voice piped up saying, "goodbye." Quite bizarre!9 yearsI answered the call and found myself speaking to a lady with a distinct Far Eastern accent who claimed to be representing BT. Rather than engage in what I presumed was a dubious discussion, I nonchalantly set the phone down on the sill by the window and strolled away. Engaging with blatant deceivers is not my cup of tea!BT9 yearsReceived a call purporting to be from BT, informing me that my broadband service was on the verge of suspension. I pointed out that such a claim was clearly nonsense, as I’m not even a BT customer. They went on to assert they had records for providers like Sky and Virgin and that my broadband was somehow compromised. After a bit of back and forth, I decided enough was enough and hung up. To my annoyance, the very same number buzzed me half an hour later, but this time there was nothing but silence before they disconnected. I’ve since lodged a report with the Information Commissioner's Office regarding the incident.BTSkyVirginInformation Commissioner ' sOffice9 yearsThey rang me but just ended the call straight away.9 yearsThis number seems to be ringing me repeatedly only to disconnect without saying a word. I've finally decided to block it. Quite irritating, really!9 yearsIt appears to be some sort of call centre. I decided to cut the call short and have since added this number to my blocked list.9 yearsI've been receiving calls over the internet that are nothing short of dodgy.9 yearsSomebody called claiming to be from BT tech support but it was obviously a trick to get access to my computer. Think they were trying to hack into it or something. Quite dodgy if you ask me.BTSubmit Your Own Report (01591 574818)
