Got a call from some call centre in India saying they were from my life insurance firm - they knew my name but wouldn't tell me how they got my phone number.

Said she was from AIG/Sun Alliance, began by asking if I had life insurance and trustee cover (which I’ve just sorted with NFU/AIG so seemed weird!) When I said yes, she said she was calling to ‘review’ my policy. I told her I only took it out about ten days ago, and she just said alright, thanks, goodbye. Pretty suspicious and strange!

Received a rather dubious call claiming to be from the insurance provider regarding my wife’s payment plan. The caller, under the guise of ‘Mandy’, applied quite an intense amount of pressure to extract information from my wife about a supposed ‘review’ of her policy. Thankfully, she stood her ground. I had already warned her about such tactics, and it was clear they were fishing for personal details. Even when she was hesitant and sceptical about the call, the pressure only intensified. At one point, after she mentioned having multiple policies, they became rather flustered and were unable to specify which one they were referring to. It went on for several minutes, and they kept insisting they just wanted to confirm she was on the best plan possible, but eventually, they hung up, likely realising they wouldn't succeed. I later discovered there had been other complaints about this number, which just reinforced my initial suspicions. It’s truly alarming how they managed to know her first name! I've decided to block the number and report it to prevent anyone else from falling victim to their tactics.
