They asked me to log into my PC and check a number, and I had this feeling they were trying to trick me then and there, not that I’d been hacked already. Got a robocall from a woman named 'Kate' with a posh British accent claiming to be from 'my internet provider'. She said my IP was linked to illegal access of a Government site and threatened to cut off my internet in 24 hours unless I phoned 02830800019. Checked the number here, it's definitely the same scam crew again. Classic rubbish from these South Asian scam artists. Make sure you block this number and 0283 one too to avoid their nonsense.

I had the exact same experience as some of you mentioned, except the call was really crackly and I could hardly catch what they were saying. It was something like, “you need to call now,” or “you’re being hacked,” all that nonsense. Then as soon as the message ended, some bloke came on and kept saying hello a few times, then just went quiet. Luckily, it went to my answerphone, otherwise I would’ve told him exactly what I thought.

Received a call from an automated voice saying my internet had been compromised due to visiting a ‘risky’ website. I stayed on and ended up talking to a lady who refused to give her name. When I asked her location, she claimed she was from BT and that my IP address had been used to hack a government site. I told her my internet provider was different, and she got rude, calling me names over my attitude and insisting I needed to pay my BT bills because supposedly they cover all of the UK. Total scam, really risky especially if you're actually with BT. Be cautious and watch out!
