I had a really similar thing happen, the connection was terrible and they told me my internet would be disconnected. Proper dodgy call.

Got a call from a woman with an American accent pretending to be from BT's tech support. She warned that our internet would be disconnected right away unless I hit 1 to chat with an operator. Totally a scam, so I just blocked the number. The call came through today at 10:08.
