I got a call the other day from someone claiming to be from Home Shield Direct, offering to extend the warranty on my washing machine. They gave me a number to ring, 0800 023 6178, but the call I'd received came from a different number, 0203 634 9899. Then another person from what sounded like the same firm called me from a Luton number, saying some details were wrong and asked me to confirm them again. I was half asleep and ended up giving them my card and account info - now I'm worried I might have been scammed. Hopefully, they're just telemarketers or in some way linked to the company, but it feels like a dodgy tactic to get people signed up for some washing machine repair service.
