Received an exasperating silent call - what a jolly nuisance! That's me being kind about it, mind you.

What a nuisance! Received seven calls from someone with an Asian accent. Tried the 1471 service, but they’re always “Unobtainable.” Looks like I’ve got a scammer on my hands!

My phone buzzed and when I picked it up, there was a brief silence. Eventually, a young man with an Asian accent began to speak. He tried to introduce himself, but it wasn't very intelligible. He launched into a spiel about how my phone line charges were going to be lowered and made reference to BT. It was clear as day that it was a scam, but out of curiosity, I stayed on the line. He claimed my line was with BT, which was why he was contacting me. The moment he started rambling on about tariffs, I politely interjected with a quick “THANK YOU, GOODBYE” and ended the call.

I received a call earlier today from someone masquerading as BT, claiming I was on the most expensive plan. They were keen to 'help' me switch to a more affordable option. I expressed my doubt about their legitimacy as BT, and they abruptly hung up on me. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!
