This bloke called me up claiming my info was on their system and that I was a low energy user or something like that. Tried to find out where they got my details from and they just kept banging on about their database. I told them to never ring me again, not even when hell freezes over, 'cos I reckoned it was a scam. But no, a few days later they ring back so I just didn’t pick up. Proper fed up with these lot now.

Yesterday, I received a rather unexpected call from a bloke named Jake, representing E4energy, using the number 01582747862. He was all about offering me assistance with a new boiler through some government help-to-buy initiative. The conversation took a turn when he inquired whether I live by myself and my age-quite intrusive, if you ask me. Apparently, he’d conducted numerous assessments in my locality and was keen to pop round to my house the very next day. I couldn't help but feel a bit wary, so I said to him, "Listen, Jake, I really don't know you from Adam, and there's no chance I’m letting a stranger into my home while I'm on my own. For all I know, you could be up to no good!" As soon as I voiced my concerns, he abruptly ended the call. Quite suspect, wouldn't you agree?

Got a missed call earlier but didn’t bother calling back. Honestly, best thing to do is book a time with them so they actually turn up, then just act like you never set anything up when they arrive. It’s the easiest way to deal with these calls.

I received a call on my mobile from an “International Call - 01582 747862”. A woman on the other end asserted she was representing ESS Dartford, claiming that I supposedly had a boiler that was a decade old. She mentioned they were partnering with the “government energy scheme” to provide updates or assistance. When I inquired how they came by my phone number, she stated it was sourced from a central register of boiler installations. It sounded utterly ridiculous to me. The caller disconnected abruptly, so I attempted to return the call, but the number was unrecognised. A quick search online revealed no trace of ESS Dartford whatsoever. This reeks of dubious practices and could very well be a scam.

Just recently got two calls, one about some boiler grant and the other saying they had info on my boiler age from a government list or something. Not only was the info wrong, but it’s hard to believe there’s really such a database out there. I reckon loads of people fall for this stuff thinking it’s legit. Honestly, can’t help but feel bad for the young folks making these calls - they’re probably only paid if they manage to book appointments or hit some quota. It’s a rough gig for them too.

The phone rang, and given that we have relatives in the 01582 region, we picked up. Quite regrettably, I must say! There was nothing but silence on the other end. I tried calling back using 141 beforehand, only to be greeted by a bland, automated voice from BT stating that the number wasn’t recognised.

Honestly, these folks are absolutely useless.

Received a call on the 7th of February 2018 at 12:42 in the afternoon. Thankfully, our BT Call Blocking phones intercepted the number, so it couldn’t connect. They didn’t bother leaving their details or attempting to reach out again. They’re now permanently blocked!

somebody rang me from this number and asked for me using my old name which i changed after getting married nearly 9 years ago. it’s a mystery how they even got that info. i thought i’d call back just to check and all i got was a recorded voice saying ‘the number you have dialled is not recognised, please try again’. quite strange!
