The two Indian guys said they were credit investigators, but when I asked who the debtor was, they just asked if I’d ever had any loans or credit cards. I said no, so they couldn’t say anything more. I hung up. Later, they rang back with the exact same questions. After that, the English chap phoned and started shouting at me because I told them to stop calling. What freaked me out the most was one of them actually used my real name.4 yearsI wasn’t expecting any calls from that region, so I’m guessing it’s just some kind of spam.4 yearsI got a call from someone saying they were from HSBC about a PPI claim, speaking with an Indian accent. The bloke on the line was of Asian descent and his grasp of English was rather lacking. When I asked for the company's name, he rather vaguely mentioned "Stop Debts" and claimed they were registered with the Financial Conduct Authority. However, he couldn't provide their FCA registration number until I first confirmed some details, apparently to ascertain my eligibility. Curious, I inquired about the weather in Luton, where the call was meant to originate from, and he surprisingly revealed he was actually based at a call centre in Manchester. I decided to engage further, letting slip that I resided in Manchester as well (technically Greater Manchester, mind you). I pressed him on his exact location, and he mentioned Eccles. To keep the banter going, I asked if he was near the interchange, to which he abruptly snapped back, "Why you waste my time if you no serious?"
