10 yearsThis was the third time they rang me in just two days, so I decided to pick up. A woman with a Liverpool accent called and used my name, saying she had info about an accident I supposedly reported back in 2014. When I asked for specifics, she refused to give me any and hid behind the Data Protection Act - yet she obviously didn’t understand it properly. It was clear she didn't have any real info. I told her I never made any claim, so their insistence seemed suspicious. Surely it’s illegal to say they have info and then refuse to prove it? I made it clear to them that this sounded like a scam and if that’s the case, shouldn’t the company be reporting this to the police? If they aren’t reporting it because they don’t actually have anything, then aren’t they breaking the law by making these calls in the first place?
