I got a call from 01582 208967, a number from Luton. A young woman said she was working with the DVLA and even knew my name. I didn’t say anything back and just ended the call. Definitely a scammer.

This number's rung me up a few times, but not having a clue who it is, I just ignored it. After seeing what others have said about it, I think I did the right thing. Really glad I've got caller ID!

I used to be a computer engineer and had a stint with BT Global Services. Just so you know, they never ask for an 'ID number' but rather something called a 'SIN' which is always six digits. Plus, a genuine BT reference number always begins with 'TXF'. If the caller can’t provide that, it’s probably a scam, so best to just ignore and end the call.

Was called by some Asian bloke calling himself 'William' from "BT Service Dept" - been through this before! I’ve recorded loads of these scam calls and I’m pretty sure it’s the same guy ringing me repeatedly, pretending to be from "Windows Technical Dept" or somethin’ - which is a load of rubbish cos that dept aint real!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Ron Mallen, already knowing my last name and saying it was something to do with my BT internet. He asked if I was sat at my computer and told me to press certain keys. When I started asking questions, he suddenly said that wasn’t his real name and that I’d called him. I ended the call, but he rang me back three more times, with one of the calls appearing as an international number. Just another nuisance to be avoided.

I explained to him that he had incorrect details, and his response was to hurl some rather colourful language my way, repeatedly shouting “F*%K you!” time and time again!

Got a call from an Asian bloke who said I was with BT and then asked if I used their broadband. I told him if he was really from BT he’d already know that, then he just ended the call. Reporting stuff like this to Ofcom or anyone else is pointless - they never seem to do anything about these calls. Total waste of time.

Got a call from an Asian guy claiming to be with BT. Since I was waiting on a call from them, I stuck around for a minute. Then he started going on about some hidden viruses on my computer that only they could detect and fix. That’s when I knew something was dodgy and just told him to get lost.

Got a call from someone saying he was William, from BT tech support, saying there was an issue with my broadband (bit different from the usual Microsoft scams!). I was a bit hard of hearing, so it took a while before he told me to switch on my computer. When I mentioned I just use a Hudl and smartphone, he sounded a bit annoyed and then just ended the call.

I got a call from an Asian bloke calling himself 'Edward', saying there was some problem with BT's internet servers. He wanted me to press Control+R and enter some sort of code. When I asked him to verify who he was, he rattled off my name and address. I told him that info's easy to find in the phone book and asked for something better. He got a bit pushy and then handed me over to his 'supervisor'. That person refused to give me the BT account number, saying it was against government rules because of all the scams out there. I had to hold back a chuckle and ended the call.

I received a rather peculiar call from this number the other day. An Indian gentleman claimed to be from BT and was inquiring about my internet service. I let him know that I’m not a fan of the internet, considering it to be quite the nuisance, and that I wished to steer clear of it altogether! He pressed on, attempting to find out if any of my relatives had access to the web, but I seized the opportunity to ramble on about how my neighbour certainly does, though I hardly ever see them about, you know? After a bit of back and forth, he graciously wished me well and ended the call. What a delightful little exchange that was!

Seemed pretty sketchy, just like the rest. When I asked for some form of ID, he handed over a number to verify him - 02032877690. Said his staff ID was D-84420, then dragged out reciting some kind of faulty licence details at a snail’s pace, wanting me to press CTRL+R and type 888DCA60FC0A-11CF. Took ages to get that from him and honestly, it all sounded totally fabricated. I'd be wary about trying anything like that! Definitely didn’t seem legit.

I had a rather peculiar encounter with an Indian gentleman who was inquiring about issues with my broadband. I had already spoken to someone earlier which led me to disconnect from the net, so I decided to let him guide me through some troubleshooting steps-command prompts and such. He provided me with a code to input, and right at that moment, I mentioned that my phone's battery was on the verge of dying. I requested that he leave me his name and number so I could ring him back later. However, I’ve subsequently blocked the number, as it raised a few red flags. A word of caution: they can be quite persuasive, especially when dealing with those who aren’t particularly tech-savvy!

I received a call from an Indian gentleman who kept repeating himself and struggled with fluent English. He claimed to be from the BT technical team, insisting that my internet was generating alerts indicating it wasn’t secure. He inquired if I was observing the warnings on my device, which rang alarm bells as it resembled previous calls I’ve had claiming to be from Microsoft’s tech support. I pointed out that the number he was calling from didn't appear to be a legitimate BT line, and I would prefer to contact customer service directly. He agreed and mentioned he’d give me a ring back. It made me suspicious that he might be holding the line to intercept my outbound call, so I decided to Google the number... unsurprisingly, it turned out to be dodgy.
