My credit card company confirmed this after checking my account and advised me on what to do if I spot any unfamiliar transactions. They also mentioned that Prime is charged monthly, not as a single big payment.

A bloke rang claiming to be from Amazon, saying my credit card was charged over £59 for Prime membership. I told him straight away I never signed up for Prime. After speaking with Amazon, they confirmed it was definitely a scam. I also contacted my credit card company who explained that Prime is charged monthly, not as a one-off payment like that. They agreed it sounded dodgy too. It really bothered me because I’m in my 80s with some health issues, and £59 is a lot to me - that kind of money covers my food shopping for about two weeks on my limited income.
