Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said his name was Steve, claiming he was ringing from BT Openreach’s London branch about a problem with our broadband. He wanted to get into our network. I decided to see what he was up to and asked loads of questions, even accused him of being some sort of scammer, but he just kept denying it. Best thing to do is just drop the call.

Totally a scam, they wanted my bank info. Spoke with an Asian accent. I just ended the call and blocked them straight away.

I received a call purporting to be from a UK advisory service, but the caller's English was quite substandard. They seemed to have some of my personal information and attempted to transfer me to a supervisor, which raised my suspicions. I decided to hang up the phone. Shortly after, I noticed another incoming call from an international number, but I chose to ignore it.

Had a cheeky call from a chap named Adam Knight today, 2nd March. I engaged him in a rather lengthy chat - around 15 minutes, give or take. Spun a right yarn, feeding him all sorts of nonsense! By the end of our conversation, he mentioned sending a cheque my way. I slyly informed him that I don't even have a bank account, which didn’t seem to sit well with him at all. Honestly, I can't resist having a bit of fun with these callers; I just love to wind them up! Cheers, Jb.

Same as others have said - this is obviously a scam tryin to get more info from you. The voice wasn’t even English. And who on earth would call a random person from the "Ministry of Justice"? Total con job!

Got a call from 015772675765 earlier today, they were asking for my mum who is in her 70s, said they were from the Ministry of Justice. I looked up the number and it’s nothing to do with the Ministry of Justice in London. Total scam, don’t get tricked by it. Honestly, makes you wonder why they bother with this rubbish.

Oh, here's another dodgy call I had recently! A chap rang me up, claiming to represent the Ministry of Justice, and, believe it or not, he was on about some so-called refund for bank charges. He was cheeky enough to say they just needed a few more bits of info to send me a cheque. He had my name and address all right, but then he asked for my date of birth. Felt so fishy; I could practically smell the scam! Be careful, everyone!

I received a call earlier today from someone claiming to be called Sam Oxlade. He mentioned something about sending me a cheque for overpaid interest or such. He then requested my date of birth, and when I couldn't recall the name of my mortgage provider, he questioned why they hadn't reached out to me. He promised to get in touch via letter but abruptly ended the call before I could respond. I've since decided to block the number.

I received a call supposedly from a UK government department regarding a refund of over £3,000 because banks had charged me for services without prior notification. The caller mentioned that a cheque would be sent out within 3 to 4 days. He first needed to confirm my address and asked me to say my first name. Then, he requested my date of birth. When I asked for a contact number to verify their legitimacy, he seemed ready to end the call, claiming that he couldn't provide a number himself as his manager was occupied with something else. Quite suspicious, I must say, and then he simply disconnected.

Got a call from this firm earlier today, the bloke on the line barely spoke English. I told him I was recording the conversation and that I’m on the TPS, also asked where they got my number from. When I asked to be taken off their list and not to be contacted again, he just said he didn't care about the TPS and threatened to call me daily before hanging up. I've since blocked the number on my phone. Maybe I shoulda reported it to the police since I felt his attitude was a bit like harassment or bullying.

Got a call from a claims management guy, sounded like he was Asian and his English was pretty poor. When I asked where he was calling from, he said London. I told him straight up I wasn’t interested and to buzz off, but he kept going on for about 5 minutes, throwing insults my way. I told him his call probably cost him more than he makes in a month, which only brought more abuse for a few more mins. Eventually, he hung up, but then rang me back three times - feels like he’s trying to be mates or something!

Complete rubbish. Some Asian bloke claiming he’s from Claims Direct Group, saying I’m owed a refund. He even knew my address and postcode, probably from the electoral roll, to try and make it sound real. I told him it was a scam, asked if he enjoyed his job and to put me through to his manager, but all I got was abuse back. I ended the call and then he kept ringing me over and over again.

01572675765 I’ve never seen this number before. They hung up right after I answered. Bit annoying cos I didn’t even get the chance to give them a mouthful. Wish they’d show stuff about these scams on shows like Eastenders or Corrie. Loads of people must be getting caught out if they keep trying.

Someone called me at 09.17 on 6th Dec saying "I am a government officer from the ministry of justice, yeah?" with that afro-carribean vibe. I just replied "Oh really? Alright then, bye" and hung up. That was such a rookie move. Looks like from what others are saying, they’ve got some kinda list of fake roles they just pull outta nowhere.

I received a call from a chap named Adam Taylor, claiming to be an advisor regarding bank charges. When I mentioned that my number was ex-directory and that I was registered with the call preference service, it didn’t take long for him to disconnect. It felt very much like a scam to me.

I received a call from someone claiming to represent a government agency, saying I was due a cheque for some unlawful bank fees. I tried to remain neutral and began verifying the details he had about my name and address, all the while just listening intently. When he pressed for my date of birth, I pointed out it should already be on file. His persistence became quite evident at that point. I decided it best to reach out to my bank myself, so I quickly searched for their contact number online. To no one’s surprise, it was indeed the beginning of a dubious attempt to fish for my personal information.

My mum got a call from someone in an Asian country who actually got her name spot on, so she answered with, "Yes, who’s this?" The bloke said, "I’m not trying to sell you anything," but then went on about some kind of claims and stuff. When she said she wasn’t interested, he turned really nasty. She told him to stop ringing and said she’d report it as nuisance calls, and then he started yelling and swearing in Hindi or Urdu. Proper rude behaviour.

Got a call from an Asian man who wanted to know how to spell my husband’s name, but then he gave us a postcode and address that was completely wrong. When my husband told him the details didn't match, the guy got all aggressive and started saying we’d miss out if we didn’t give the right info. My husband wasn’t having any of it, said a few choice words, then ended the call. Pretty sure it was one of those bank fraud scams.

Like some others have said, hard to understand this Asian guy. Kept trying to figure out how to say my first name, which made me think he didn’t actually have my details. When I asked why he needed to know how to say it, he got quite annoyed with me. He also asked if I could get to my bank on my own. Said I owed £1,300 in bank fees - which is rubbish because I’ve never been charged. He kept insisting though. When I asked who he was calling for and why the name pronunciation was so important, he just mumbled and hung up.

Got 3 calls from a firm claiming to be the Claims Advisory Group saying I was owed cash from a mortgage we had with Bradford and Bingley years back. They knew my name, address and landline, and said I banked with Santander. I was pretty blunt with them every time. They asked if I was disabled or if I could get to the bank by myself. Im expecting another call tomoz but plan to give them all wrong info if they ask and hang up quickly.

We just let it ring because, honestly, most calls on our landline now are junk, so we've just stopped picking up. I used 1471 and the number wasn’t familiar, so I looked it up here. Glad I did, cause it was the right move! We keep our number ex-directory and always say no to sharing info with others, but it’s really tricky to be sure, especially when shopping online.

Got a call from 01572675765 today, some bloke with a strong Asian accent saying I was owed money from bank fees. Hard to make out what he was saying. He mentioned my address then asked for my DOB, I said "I don’t share personal info over the phone" and suddenly the line just died. I dialled 1471 to see the number, then looked it up here and sure enough, it’s a proper scam. Honestly, if someone with an Asian accent rings claiming stuff like this, just tell them you don’t discuss anything by phone and hang up straight away!

I’ve just added this number to BT’s blacklist myself. They mentioned a new thing launching next month called Caller Protect - you can sign up and it’ll block all numbers flagged on their list automatically, so you don’t have to keep blocking each one yourself. Sounds pretty good, so I reckon everyone should report these dodgy numbers to BT. Just ring 151, say nuisance calls, and they’ll put you straight through to the right team. Took no time at all!

This number has rang my home phone three times in just a couple of days. When I picked up earlier today, there was absolutely no one there, so I hung up straight away. Yesterday, I tried calling it back after dialling 1471, but there was no dial tone at all. Watch out and don’t share any of your personal info. Looks like a total scam to me!!!

Got a call from this number at 1:43 this afternoon, and as I expected, it was one of those typical scams. Tried ringing back but just got a message saying the number's not real.

The accent was really difficult to get and they said I had a cheque waiting for me outside my door. They asked me to verify my details but I didn’t do it. Ended up hanging up on them. I really wish there was a proper way to stop these calls!!

Starting to get a bit fed up now. I just keep them hanging on while I’ve got the time. They never seem to take the hint. Seriously, how do they even get hold of your number? I’m on the TPS!

01572675765 bloke talkin with some sort of Asian accent kept pushing me to confirm my address, askin if my name's right, and if I'd dialled the number properly. Just the usual chat. I kept sayin the line was awful and I couldn't hear a word (which it usually is) and then they eventually hung up. This number’s been ringin me so many times now, can’t even count!

Weird call, like some others mentioned, this bloke with an Indian accent told me I was owed some sort of refund. I decided to mess about a bit and said, "Oh brilliant, cheers a lot!" He just replied, alright then, bye. Maybe I was a bit too keen!

Someone called me claiming my bank had some charges to pay me and asked for my bank details! I didn’t give them anything and told them to take my number off their list, but then they just told me to f### off.

I’ve come across some other accounts as well, involving an Indian lady with a rather thick accent who was attempting to talk me through a refund for bank fees. Definitely sounds like a con to me!

They claimed to be calling from 223 Regent Street about some money refund and wanted me to confirm my address and stuff. When I said no, the caller got really rude and started threatening me.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming he was from the government about getting money back from UK bank fees, said I'd be sent a cheque. I told him straight up he was a scammer and to stop calling. He got quite angry and kept calling me by name, insisting it was legit. When I said I’d be reporting him, he started swearing and then just hung up.

Received a call today, 22nd November 2016, from an Asian gentleman claiming that I was due a refund for my bank charges. Since I don't have any to begin with, I decided to end the conversation promptly.

I've had a few calls here from someone claiming to be from the UK Gov, saying they've got my info like my name, address and postcode, and that they need to double-check some details. Apparently OWL Cymru has been told about this by others too. Feels a bit off to me.

Received a call earlier today, during which they informed me that a cheque for my bank charges was on its way. Given that I don’t actually have any charges, I politely thanked them and mentioned that I’d look forward to its arrival before ending the conversation.

Just thought I’d share a little insight. Each time I pick up my phone, I tend to only say the final three digits of my number, and more often than not, the person on the other end simply disconnects. I reckon that many of these calls are triggered by voice recognition technology linked to certain keywords. It seems that when you greet them with a “hello,” it sets off their recording, but when I respond with just the last three digits, they usually just bail. I could be mistaken, of course! But it’s definitely an interesting approach - might as well give it a go! Cheers!

Got a call from this number, but nobody said anything. Could hear loads of chatter and noise like they were in a call centre though.

Just a thought, really. Every time I pick up the phone, I tend to respond using just the final three digits of my number, and without fail, the person on the other end often disconnects. I have this notion that many of these calls are triggered by something to do with voice recognition; for instance, when you greet them with a "hello", it sets off whatever recording they've got. However, when I respond with just those last three digits, it seems to send them packing-at least that's been my experience. I could be completely off the mark, of course! But it's an interesting tactic worth giving a go. Cheers!

This person on the phone said I was owed some kind of refund, but I couldn’t catch exactly what. I told them I’m on the TPS register, so they shouldn’t be calling me. Then they said, with an Indian accent, “No sir, you’re mistaken, we work for the UK government and we’re allowed to contact you.”

Just got a call from a woman with a weird accent claiming she was from some government department and that I was owed money for bank fees from like 20 years ago. When I asked who she was exactly, she wanted my name, address and postcode. I asked for her number to ring back, but she said no. I told her I needed to check who she was before giving any details, but she told me to hang up and basically told me to buzz off. I tried calling back but the number wouldn’t connect. The number was 01572675765.

Got a call from this number around 9 this morning. A man spoke with a foreign accent and asked for me directly. I`ve started getting wary of random calls lately, so I just ended the call straight away. Glad I trusted my gut after seeing what others have said about this number. I`ve signed up with the TPS but it doesn`t seem to stop those pesky scammers at all.

I've had calls from this number a couple of times now. I just told them straight up I wasn't interested! I've also put my number on the do not call list but it doesn’t seem to help much, because yesterday I got calls from 4 other numbers that have been reported too. Really getting tired of all these random calls popping up.
