My father in law, who’s seriously ill with cancer, got a call from someone claiming to be from Benefits UK trying to scam him. Honestly, it’s just awful to target someone in that condition. I’ve gone ahead and reported all the details to the proper authorities and the phone company.

This number didn’t show up on BT Call Guardian at all, so I’m guessing it’s either some kind of scam or from a call centre. I’ve gone ahead and blocked it just to be safe.

Totally with the writer from 13 April. I’ve blocked about 59 of these dodgy callers already and every day there’s yet another one ringing me up. The TPS doesn’t seem to help at all, but I’ve reported a few of them to the ICO through the TPS website. If more people did the same, maybe the government would finally pay attention to this awful mess. No wonder there’s so much fraud happening, especially when these pests manage to reach someone who’s vulnerable.

Got a call from someone trying to sort out a washing machine problem, even though I told them I don’t have one. Then they jumped to asking if I had Sky, followed by questions about my energy supplier, a bit about PPI, and then suddenly something about fixing laptops. Felt like they were just trying to tick every box - the only thing missing was a car accident or travel insurance pitch! I managed to keep the bloke on the line for about 20 minutes, so hopefully wasted enough of his time to save a few others from getting hassled.

I’ve had this number ring me a few times this week, twice on the 12th April and once more today, the 13th April around 8:30 in the morning. Every time I answer, no one speaks.
