It’s clear what they’re peddling. Just steer clear, as it could end up costing you significantly down the line. This is definitely a commercial venture.

In a fortnight, I received two calls-one from an outfit claiming to be "Positive Leads" and the other from a "Financial Guidance firm." Each time, the callers insisted they were affiliated with a government organisation designed to assist families and couples during these tough economic times. However, when I probed further, they couldn't provide any legitimate information about themselves. They claimed to have my number sourced from a "national database," which I highly doubt is legitimate or even linked to the government. I have a strong feeling these individuals are fishing for sales leads. Surely it must be illegal to misrepresent oneself as being connected with a governmental body?

They’re touting some kind of debt management program they claim is ‘approved by the Ministry of Justice’ and under the watchful eye of the FSA - it all sounds a bit far-fetched, to be honest. The person on the call had a lovely Welsh lilt, but when we probed a bit more, she sheepishly admitted she’d only been in the role for a couple of days! We reminded her that the Data Protection Office doesn’t just hand out private information like sweets. As it's our number that's listed as out of service, he was utterly stumped and couldn’t provide any additional details. Quite the shambles!
