So, Adrian Flux insured my previous car and it’s nearly up for renewal. When I switched over to Tesco Insurance, they asked if it was okay to ring me in a couple of months to try and offer a better deal, and I said yes. It’s not a scam or anything like that. They do phone from a different number than the one you use to reach them, but that’s always been the case.

A couple of years back I had car insurance with Adrian Flux, and last year they phoned me at renewal time. I told them I no longer had that car and asked to be taken off their call list. Then just last week I picked up one of their calls, told them I was at work and asked if they could ring me back on Saturday to talk. I was planning to tell them then to stop calling, but the guy on the line muttered something I didn’t catch and just hung up. No call came on Saturday. Now they’ve phoned me again while I’m at work, so I decided to ignore it. I’m sure they’ll keep ringing regardless.

Sounds like a typical insurance broker tactic to me. They probably keep a list of every past customer's car renewal dates and then bombard them with calls when it’s time to renew, trying to win their business again. I get a follow-up or two, but constant pestering is a bit much for me. I wouldn’t want to deal with a broker who uses pushy sales techniques like that. Apparently, they’ve lost upwards of 17,000 unhappy clients over time. No surprise they’re getting more frantic now.
