These scammers are tricky, they fake loads of landline numbers nationwide to make it look like they’re local reps - even if the area code has nothing to do with where they’re calling! When you try to talk back, the supposed ‘caller’ doesn’t actually respond because it’s all just a pre-recorded AI script. Total con artists.1 monthIt was like one of those automated calls, said something about an energy firm and asked if I'd heard about people finding damp and mould in fibreglass roof insulation? They said they do a free inspection... felt weirdly robotic, like they weren’t really paying attention to what I was saying.1 monthI picked up but didn’t say anything, then this man’s voice, clearly a recording, asks “Hello, can you hear me?”. I kept quiet and he didn’t say another word. After that, it was just dead silent for more than a minute. No follow-up or sounds in the background.
