I chose not to pick up my phone when it rang earlier this evening while I was having dinner, and it ended up going straight to my answerphone. The message left was from someone claiming to be a representative of HM Revenue and Customs, stating that an arrest warrant had supposedly been issued in my name for tax evasion. They instructed me to press one if I wanted to speak to my case manager. The whole thing sounded more like a pre-recorded spiel than an authentic conversation. They didn’t even mention my name, so I’m left puzzled about who they were actually after. I'm convinced this is a scam and I reckon it could potentially lead to some serious trouble. Stay alert, everyone.

I let the phone ring out and it went straight to voicemail. The message was from someone claiming to be Allison at the HM Tax Office, saying there was an arrest warrant out for me over unpaid taxes. They told me to press one to talk to a case worker. It definitely sounded like a robot, not a real person. They never said my name either, so I’m not sure who they were even trying to reach. Feels like a scam to me, and possibly a dodgy caller trying to cause trouble.
