Just had a call about half an hour back from some bloke saying my fridge and freezer insurance was about to run out. He wanted to help me renew it but told me I didn’t have to pay upfront, just set up a direct debit or something. I wasn’t having any of it and told him off pretty quick. Total dodgy scam if you ask me.

Every scam call or message should be reported straight away to the cyber crime unit - they’ve made it pretty straightforward for folks to flag phone calls, emails or texts that seem dodgy. When I raised my concerns about all the scam calls I kept receiving with my local MP, they pointed me in that direction. On the 27th of December, instructions on how to report were shared in this thread. Honestly, if people don’t bother reporting these scams, then we can’t really expect any changes or action to be taken.

Got a call around 8:30 in the morning from a woman who claimed my washing machine’s warranty was about to expire. Thing is, that warranty ended like ten years back, so I just told her to buzz off and ended the call. I reckon the call probably came from India - I don’t think Cannock has many call centres like that.

Got a call from some Indian woman who was asking for someone with a really messed up version of my name. When I said they were speaking to me for now, she couldn’t deal with it. Then complained they could hardly hear me - well, that’s not my problem! Ended up hanging up without giving out any details.

I received a call from a chap with a foreign accent, who stated that my washing machine's warranty had run out. He was exceedingly courteous and suggested he could help me renew it. However, when I pressed him for the make and model of my washing machine (which is a Bosch, by the way), he instantly turned quite impolite and abruptly ended the call. Quite a peculiar experience, if you ask me!
