Got a call from someone pretending to be Microsoft, tried to scam me and was really rude. Total abuse!

Today at around 9.58, this number rang our phone claiming to be Microsoft. My missus picked up and told them I wasn’t here and to stop calling because we weren’t interested. After that, the caller started swearing at her, calling her a “f***ing b****.” The number is registered to a M J Robinson in Cannock, but it looks like scammers have cloned it. We’ve passed all the info to the police.

Got called three times today by the same number, sounded like someone from abroad. I only managed to say hello before they just dropped the call. When I tried to ring back, it said the number was blocked or screened by Sky Talk Shield. Earlier in the day, another caller claimed to be from Virgin Media checking our internet connection, and the area code on that was 01783. Strange really.

Got a call from someone who sounded like they had a thick Indian accent and said his name was Max. He said he was ringing from Virgin, mentioning there was an issue with my router. He asked about which lights were on my router, but I told him I couldn't even see it and then he just ended the call. Interestingly, the exact same spiel came through a few hours earlier from 01463 220235. Bit odd that Virgin would use two different area codes for tech support dealing with the same issue, isn't it? ;)

Earlier today I got a call from a woman with a foreign accent claiming to be from Virgin Media's tech support. I didn’t buy it and asked, "How can I be sure you really work for Virgin Media?" She just said, "If you trust me, we can keep going, but if not, you can end the call." So naturally, I took her up on the offer and just hung up. Definitely sounded like some kind of dodgy scam to me!

Someone phoned me saying her name was Valerie, started off with a polite “hi, how’s your day going?” I just replied with a quick hello and OK. There was a bunch of noise in the background like a busy call centre. She claimed she was from Virgin Media and said there had been some issues with my WiFi, asking if I’d shared my password, then said I wasn’t home. I just hung up right away. Feels like a total scam if you ask me!

Got a call from this number on 18/09/2023 at around 2.22pm. As soon as I answered with "hello", they just ended the call. Looking through the comments, it looks like a known scam. It was a landline ringing and when they started asking questions, I told them I don’t own a mobile or a computer.

Got four calls back to back on Saturday morning around 10:08. The caller said they were from Microsoft and even rattled off my address. They said I’d missed some messages about an issue with my PC. I told them I don't even own a computer, which clearly upset them! Seems like someone’s spoofed my number, poor old decorator me. Definitely blocking this number from now on.
