Blimey! It’s a wonder how these absolute plonkers manage to get any shut-eye at night! It’s hard to fathom the cheek of it all. Switching our number hasn’t made a jot of difference, it seems. TPS is as useful as a chocolate teapot! If we ever find the time, we might just take legal action against them.

On 28th March, this number tried to ring me, but luckily my trueCall Call Blocker intercepted it within 9 seconds. I didn’t even hear the phone ring, only found out when I looked at the log afterwards (see below). I’ve since put the number on my blocklist so it won’t bother me again. Today around half past twelve, I got a call for the first time. It didn't ring long and there was no voicemail left, so I have no clue who it could be. From my experience, debt collectors often use loads of different numbers when they get debtor lists from businesses. I’m being chased over a T-Mobile bill of £141 that I cleared up fully almost five years ago. Seems like they don’t bother verifying the details with the original company.

Cheers for the tip on how to deal with those pesky callers. I usually let my voicemail pick up and only bother answering if it’s someone I actually want to chat with. I get why these calls can be pretty daunting for older folks or those less confident. Me, I quite enjoy messing with the telesales people whenever I’m in the right mood. Since they’re the ones barging into my day, I feel no guilt about winding them up a bit! I like to say I’m called things like Sally Fetus, Barry Cuda, or even Kitty Litter, and that I work as a Wind Turbine Flatus Technician for some dodgy-sounding firm. It just kills their time and cracks me up watching them try to keep a straight face. Best not to lose your temper - just have some fun and turn the tables on them!

Got a robo call about clearing debts over £10k, saying to press a number to get details or 9 to opt out. Fingers crossed pressing 9 actually stops the calls and doesn’t rack up a huge bill. Really irritating since I’m ex-directory and have never signed up for any of their services.

Loads of folks are moaning about this number, but how many have actually reported it to the ICO? You can do it quick at http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/marketing

Honestly, it only takes a couple of minutes. Eventually the scammers get caught and slapped with big fines - like a kitchen firm that got done just this week.
If everyone just complains and never properly reports, these calls will keep on coming non-stop.

If you pick up and hear a recorded message straight away, you should definitely report it to the ICO (http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/marketing/). The ICO rely on these complaints to take action.

Should it be a live person speaking and you're on the TPS register, make sure to file a report with the TPS (https://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/). They collaborate with the ICO on these matters.

For silent calls, the proper place to report them is Ofcom (https://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/webflow/silent-calls/).

I know it’s a pain having to report different types of nuisance calls to multiple bodies, but for now that’s how it all works.

I got a call as usual, but this time they told me I was on their list because I’d supposedly been in an accident and could get compensation, something like £3740 on average. I decided to call them back to see who was behind it. When I asked for the caller’s name, he said Rajah. I pressed him for more info, asking not only for his full name but also his manager’s details and the company’s address, because I was pretty sure what they were doing wasn’t legit. He got quiet and nervously asked why I wanted all that, and when I repeated myself, the call just cut off. I reported them to the TPS and honestly think that being firm with these types and demanding details usually gets them to stop hassling you!

On 21st March 2013, around 12:20 in the afternoon, my phone rang a few times before I finally managed to pick up. I checked the caller ID using 1471, then googled the number and ended up on this site. Whenever I get these annoying calls, I find it helpful to start grilling the caller with questions like “Do I know you?” or “Where did you get my number from?” I don’t let them get a word in edgeways either - I quickly hit back with things like “Don’t ever ring me again”, “Explain how you got this number”, or “I’m going to report this as harassment.” Usually, they’re the ones to hang up first!

Like a few others have said, I got a posh English voice recording claiming this number had signed up to get up to 70% of debts cleared - press 5 to chat with someone. I pressed 5 and got put through to a guy called Ian with a Welsh accent. I told him straight away we never opted in, plus this number’s been on the TPS list for years. Asked him to remove me from their records. He claimed he didn’t know about it and that he hadn’t called me personally, then just hung up. What a terrible way to make a living... Also, when trying to ring the number back, it says it’s invalid or not recognised.

We're ex-directory and recently got hit with two silent calls. A quick online lookup showed the number’s registered to someone in Keith up in the north east of Scotland - maybe it’s still the middle of the night for them and they’re wide awake or just messing about. I work from home and honestly can’t stand being disturbed by pointless calls. Thankfully it’s been my wife answering both times so far.

I reckon they got a bit scared off when I blasted my referee’s whistle at them - it’s my special little act to scare these lot away.
