Got a random call from a lady with a South Asian accent. She said she was from something called 'Telephone Preference Management' trying to pitch some new service to stop annoying marketing calls. Hilarious, right? So she went on about how I could be free from spam calls as soon as tomorrow if I signed up. Pretty sure this is just another one of those South Asian spam call centres. Don’t trust them with your info, especially not your card details. Just hang up and block the number straight away.

Honestly, the best thing is to have a phone that comes with a call blocking feature already on it. I checked this site today to figure out who was behind some blocked unknown calls I’ve had popping up. I’ve used one of these phones for a few years now and it cuts out about 99% of unwanted calls. If it’s something important, the caller can still reach you somehow. I only had one dodgy scammer try to get past it, and I just laughed him off. I think some network providers also offer blocking services too? Not paid to say this or anything, just genuinely find it works well!

Got a call from 01542568554, sounded like an Indian bloke called "Mark". He knew my name and was saying something about upgrading my TPS so I wouldn't get scam calls anymore. When I joked and asked if he wanted my bank info, he got a bit annoyed. Told him to buzz off. Then he rang me back almost straight away, but I just ignored it.

He called me by name and said he was from the Telephone Preference Service. He claimed it wasn’t a sales call, just wanted some feedback since we were on their list. I asked, “So you’re not after my card details then?” He said I’d got it wrong and insisted it was a legit call from the TPS, only after feedback. Got a call from an Indian guy, with lots of noise behind him. He said he was from some phone number blocking company. Funny thing is, I've just done that myself through BT. He already knew where I live, roughly how old I am and that I pay by Direct Debit. Then he told me my card had expired and asked for my bank account details. A woman with an Asian accent said she could help block annoying calls, then oddly asked me to confirm my name and postcode, which she read back to me. Then she surprisingly wanted to know if my bank card expired November 2018. I asked why she needed that info, and she said it was for security reasons. I told her the date was wrong, and she tried asking if it was 2019 instead. That was enough for me - I told her I knew it was a scam and snapped the phone down before she could say otherwise. These calls are really frustrating and there should be a way to make them stop.
