Today, I received a phone call from a woman purporting to be a representative of HSBC, my bank. She mentioned that there had been a withdrawal of approximately £600 from my account not long ago, supposedly made from overseas. She said they were concerned since they were aware I was currently in the UK due to the travel restrictions. To be honest, her spiel was rather convincing, but I decided to have a look at my banking app, and lo and behold, no such transaction occurred. That's when it clicked for me that this was all a ruse.
