Got another call like this just the other day - a woman talking about some issue with my computer. Not much chance of fooling me though, I told her straight up before hanging up that I’ve been working with computers way longer than she’s been around (basically since 1957!).

They claim to be from BT and have informed me that they can resolve the issue with my computer, mentioning there’s a fault on their end.

I received a rather dubious phone call from someone claiming to be associated with Microsoft. They insisted I should access my computer as it apparently wasn’t updating properly. They prompted me to press the CTRL key, the Windows key, and then the letter R simultaneously. Feeling mischievous, I decided to turn the tables on him. I tapped on the calculator app three times and informed him that nothing was occurring out of the ordinary. He accused me of fooling around and abruptly terminated the call. What a jolly good laugh!

A caller claimed I had some technical issue with my computer. I responded, and it sounded like she was from India, suggesting she ought to find a legitimate job instead of attempting to con individuals out of their cash.

Yet again, there was no sound on the line. After a brief pause, the caller abruptly hung up.

He said it was something to do with my laptop. I told him thanks but to never ring me again. These calls come through nearly daily, so I’m not holding my breath! Really don't get why the police dont track and put a stop to these numbers?

Some bloke called me, saying he needed to discuss the computer linked to the internet. When I told him I don’t own a computer, he asked if I had a laptop!!! I just ended the call straight away.

I got a call earlier today, claiming there was an issue with my laptop and that they were affiliated with Microsoft. When I pressed them for proof, they just disconnected. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

The caller claimed there was an issue with my computer and insisted I wouldn't be receiving any further updates from Microsoft. Honestly, how naive can one be? I spent over three decades at IBM, dealing with both PCs and mainframe systems. Then, just like that, she terminated the call.

Received a call with no one on the other end; I had a hunch it was one of those pesky automated telemarketers, so I decided to cut it short and hang up.

On my caller ID it showed up as INTERNATIONAL. When it rang through to my answering machine they just dropped the call. I checked the number by dialling 1471 and it got logged, looks like the same group that called me yesterday pretending to be from BT Tech support. I don’t get why these calls can’t be tracked down and stopped legally!

There was complete silence on the line before they abruptly ended the call after just a few seconds.

I know it might sound a bit daft, but I'm genuinely curious - if this number is notorious for scamming folks, how come it’s still operational? Just pondering out loud, you know!

Received three calls from this number while I was out and about, all at a similar time. However, today I was home and they rang again, stating there was an issue with my computer. The exchange went like this: Me: Right then, which computer are we talking about? Caller: Do you happen to have a laptop? Me: Not too sure - I was under the impression you have some sort of magical insight into my technical woes! Caller: There’s a problem with your laptop. Me: Is that so? Did my laptop give you a bell? And how’s that slipped past my antivirus? By the way, how did you acquire my restricted TPS number? You do realise you’re contravening the law, don’t you? Caller: *Hangs up.*

Received a call today, 27th November 2017, but I happened to be out at the time. Strangely enough, they didn’t bother to leave a message. Initially curious, I decided to return the call, but all I was met with was an incessant beeping noise. After doing a bit of digging on this site, I've added the number to my blocked contacts list. Better safe than sorry!

Got a call from someone saying they were from tech support, calling themselves 'Albert' or something like that, I just put the phone down right away. It’s been ages since I got one of these calls, maybe they’re starting up again. Funny thing is, I don’t even run Windows on my computer!

Had a trio of phone calls this morning on the 18th of November, 2017. Each caller had a different name. They all claimed there was an issue with my computer. I mentioned to the first one (a woman named Jenny, who had an Indian accent) that I actually don’t own a computer, as I use my mobile instead, and kindly asked her to remove me from her list. However, two more calls followed suit, and I relayed the same message. It’s quite frustrating-why can’t these be intercepted by the Telephone Preference Service?

This Asian lady rang me up claiming my computer had issues, then passed me on to some bloke called 'David', also Asian. He told me to open the run box and type some stuff in, which I just faked doing. Then he asked what words appeared on the screen, so I just spelled out 'bugger off you ****ing idiot'. He goes, 'That means your computer is abusing you, sir.' Honestly, what a load of tossers. Proper muppets!

I received a rather peculiar call from someone claiming to be associated with our training facility for the football club. They cut the line abruptly after about half a minute. There was absolutely no one on the line, just an eerie silence. Quite baffling, really!

Woman with an Asian accent called me saying Microsoft had stopped support and updates for my PC. She kept insisting I don’t have a computer, telling me to "keep telling myself that" while claiming my machine was being bombarded by every virus imaginable, which explained the sluggishness. After a while, I told her I was onto the scam and these calls were seriously annoying, then just hung up.

Here we go again, yet another dodgy caller! She claimed that Microsoft has stopped offering support and updates, and droned on and on about it. I made it clear that I wasn’t interested and asked her not to call back. But honestly, I’m not exactly counting on that!

Got a call from someone called 'Albert' who said he was from tech support but refused to tell me the company. He assumed he was talking to the PC owner, I told him I don’t own any PC. He asks if I have a laptop, I said only the one for work. Then he just ended the call. So if you want to get rid of them fast, try something like that! :-)

I had a similar experience to many of you. It was clearly a Windows scam - some chap with an Asian accent called, claiming my computer had picked up harmful software and that he could fix it for me. I ended up telling him to find himself a decent job and to, well, go take a long walk off a short pier. Isn't there a way we can trace these individuals and put an end to their nonsense once and for all?

I received a rather unexpected call from someone claiming to be 'Albert,' who assured me that my computer had a virus and he could fix it for me. Quite comforting, isn't it? But just how did he come to know this? After engaging in a delightful 7-minute dialogue, we covered everything from my recent holiday snaps, the fact that the letters on my keyboard had worn off, to my fondness for a good cup of Indian tea. However, things took an amusing turn when he became a tad rude after just 6 minutes, barking “Madam, LISTEN!” To which I promptly retorted, “No, you listen here! Perhaps you should stop fleecing folks and actually find yourself a legitimate job, you absolute numpty!”

This 01539738785 number has called me loads recently but never drops a voicemail. (I don’t answer unless I recognise the caller.) I tried blocking it using 1572 via my phone provider but it won’t let me since it says the number’s withheld. Funny thing is, I can still see the number when I ring 1471!

Got one of those “Tech Support” calls claiming to be from Microsoft, saying there was a virus on my PC. I’m well aware it’s a scam, especially since I’m a Microsoft Certified engineer and have been in IT for more than a decade. I told the bloke this straight away, but he kept arguing and still wanted access to my computer! Honestly, I think phone companies really need to start taking responsibility and stop letting international scammers use local numbers.

I had this chap on the phone, claimed his name was "Frank" and started going on about how my computer was in dire straits. And let me tell you, every time I tried downloading something, it was like a wretched parade of dodgy extras just piling in. Quite the nuisance, really! So, I thought I'd have a bit of fun and open my drawer at work, let him hear all the ruckus inside. Oh, the joy of letting those nuisances hear what they’re missing out on! He stuck around for a good 12 minutes-what a ridiculous toll that must’ve racked up for him! Hopefully, it set back his little scam operation, at least for a while. Victory is mine, "Frank"! I received a rather curious call earlier from a woman who claimed that I was getting suspicious emails, and that she was there to assist me with some sort of dilemma. I decided to let her prattle on for a bit before I hung up on her. She did attempt to ring me back, but I opted to ignore that one. Not quite sure what her game is but it seems like she might be trying to gain access to my computer.

I had a call just like that, with someone telling me my computer was infected and to hit the Windows key plus R. When they asked what was on the screen, I replied that it was a scam alert and not to follow any instructions. Unsurprisingly, they hung up immediately. It’s pretty clearly a con, but the scary thing is that they must be getting some folks out of it or they wouldn’t be bothering. Quite worrying, really.

I just had a rather peculiar phone call from this number, and as soon as I noted it down, I swiftly typed it into Google, only to stumble upon this thread. The chap on the other end sounded foreign and claimed he was ringing about a problem with my "Personal Computer" or, as we often say, my PC. Instinctively, I told him I suspected this was a scam and pointed out that his number was plastered all over the web. He insisted, "I'm not trying to sell you anything!" Curiosity piqued, I then enquired who he was attempting to reach, and made it clear he had dialled an established IT firm. At that point, he abruptly ended the call. Just a word of caution to everyone-always do your homework on any companies or numbers before engaging in a chat! Stay safe!

An Asian bloke has called my landline about six times in the last month. He keeps talking about Microsoft tech support and asks me to get on my laptop, which I obviously said no to, and he got pretty rude after that. On the sixth time, I told him I’d saved his number and was about to report him to the police, and he acted like I was daft. This guy is a real pest and quite intimidating since he just won’t stop. He called again this morning, so I just hung up straight away.

I had an unexpected call from a lady overseas who seemed to be struggling with English. Honestly, I could hardly grasp her instructions most of the time. She asked me to press a key next to the Ctrl and R simultaneously, but I didn’t do it; just claimed I had. She persisted with asking me to type something else. Eventually, I mentioned that my screen had switched off due to the battery being flat. Surprisingly, she offered to wait while I plugged it in. Just then, I had to inform her that my mate had popped round and I had to attend to him. I rather bluntly told her I needed to perform a rather intimate act on him. I ended up repeating myself, and she asked if she could have five minutes. I made it clear I couldn’t because he was waiting for me, and he usually comes over for… well, you know the rest. At that point, it seemed she finally got the message and hung up rather abruptly. I do hope I didn’t cross any lines here…

01539738785 - I received a call from this number earlier today, and they claimed that my Microsoft Windows was compromised and filled with harmful spyware. It was clearly a scam since I've encountered this trick before. I played along and told the caller that I didn’t own a PC, to which he countered that it must be a laptop. I insisted I didn't have one of those either. Then he accused me of lying! I asked him what made him think that, and he pointed out that I was on Virgin Broadband. Said they were from Microsoft, same dodgy scammers just now using 01539 codes. Microsoft NEVER rings you unless you’ve reached out first. If they cant sort it out straight away, they'll arrange a callback with a special reference number and usually tell you the name of the person who'll call back. IF THEY DON'T GIVE YOU THIS UNIQUE NUMBER, THEY AINT MICROSOFT. Ask for it, and they usually drop the call straight away.

Today, I received a rather alarming voicemail from this number, claiming that HMRC is initiating legal proceedings against me. Strangely enough, there was no mention of my name; they only instructed me to press 1 to connect with my supposed case officer. It’s quite clear to me that had HMRC truly been pursuing such action, they would have sent an official letter addressed to me. It seems they didn't consider who might listen to that message, and it could easily panic someone more vulnerable into making that call back.

An Asian gentleman rang me, claiming my computer was experiencing issues, and asserted he was representing Microsoft. I allowed him to go on with his lengthy spiel until he quizzed whether I was near my computer. I replied, "No," to which he insisted I power it up. I simply said I was unable to do so as I don’t possess a computer, calling him out as a deceitful fraud wanting to snag my personal information. He unleashed a torrent of obscenities before abruptly cutting the line. I just had a rather unpleasant phone call from a gentleman of Asian descent, claiming that my computer was in jeopardy. When I challenged him, making it clear I wasn't going to be duped by his ploy, he escalated the situation by shouting that I would face a cyber attack within two hours! Unsurprisingly, things got a bit heated on my end-I'm thoroughly fed up with these scammers. He then retorted, "Fine, lose your computer in two hours then!"
