The robotic voice is awful and sounds completely fake, making it clear it’s not genuine. The caller tries to trick you into pressing a button to talk to someone, but this is just to catch you out. Lots of people find the whole thing laughable and very dodgy, as real companies wouldn’t use such a poor automated message. It’s best to be careful and suspicious if you get a call like this.

I received a dodgy automated call featuring a dreadful robotic voice claiming to be from Amazon, saying my Amazon Prime subscription had been renewed for the sum of £79.99. It’s clearly a scam! They urged me to "press one to chat with their Prime manager" if I wished to dispute it. Whatever you do, don't press that button! Honestly, the notion that Amazon resorts to such a laughable autodialler reminiscent of K-9 from Doctor Who is utterly ridiculous.
