I have a strong suspicion that it was a dodgy scam, so I promptly blocked the number. They posed as HMRC, claiming there were legal proceedings kick-started against me due to outstanding taxes. Absolutely preposterous!

If they never leave a message, then there’s probably no reason at all to bother answering. We just don’t pick up when they ring. If this is a scam pretending to be HMRC, then I’ve had a handful of calls from different numbers in the past few months. I’m ready with my stuff but no one’s come to arrest me yet! I’ve also sent a report to the HMRC scam email I found on the official government site.

I’ve had a few calls from ‘HMRC’ lately, and they all just hang up as soon as the answerphone picks up. This really has to be put to an end.

I tried ringing back but it said the number doesn’t seem to be real! So I just hung up.

I'm pretty sure it's a fraud, they said they were from HMRC and told me I was facing legal proceedings.

I picked up and all I got was silence. Could have been a wrong number or something, but they didn’t hang up themselves. After a bit, I just ended the call myself.
