3 yearsI received a phone call regarding an "accidental overcharge" linked to insurance for a household appliance. The caller claimed they needed my debit card details to facilitate a refund. However, I was well aware that this insurance had been terminated ages ago and payments were made via direct debit, not a debit card. So it was clear to me that this was a scam attempt. When I probed the caller about why they couldn’t issue a refund to the debit card they had used initially, I was met with vague replies like "it's rather complicated" and other flimsy excuses. I know the process well, as I’ve handled it myself in the past. Despite my persistent questioning, she repeatedly pressed for my debit card information "to complete the refund".
