Got a call from someone asking about the colour of the light on my Virgin router. He said there was suspicious activity and told me to download QuickSupport from the app shop, promising a technician would be sent over. The bloke was polite, even called me "love" when I explained I was on my phone. Got a call from someone saying they're from Sky, saying they look after the internet network in the UK. They said my internet might be at risk of being hacked. Then they told me to go on the Play Store and download 'Teamviewer QuickSupport' by searching 'Quick Support'. I said no 'cos I didn't trust it at all. I received a rather dubious phone call earlier today, claiming to be from Virgin Media’s security team. They insisted that my internet connection was under threat due to more than 30 different devices accessing it, with an array of IP addresses attempting to get in. They wanted me to connect to some remote server so they could supposedly reveal error reports and resolve the supposed security issue. I smelled a rat and asked for my account details, his name, and the department he worked in, suggesting he could ring me back in ten minutes after I confirmed with customer services. Unsurprisingly, the call ended abruptly, and I haven’t heard a peep from him since!
