At around 1pm on 17th December, I got a call from this number but I chose not to answer since it was unfamiliar. When I looked it up afterwards, I was relieved I ignored it. They didn’t leave a voicemail either.

I got a phone ring on my landline at about 4.05 in the afternoon on Wednesday, 27th August. I didn’t pick up since the number was unfamiliar to me. I hardly share my landline digits, just with a couple of family members who don’t own mobiles. There wasn’t any voicemail left either.

Totally a rip off. They claim you owe money for unpaid import taxes through DHL, spinning some believable story like the importer didn't cover the charges so now it’s on you. They keep ringing and leaving messages and texts, super irritating since the package was actually sent to my daughter, so they’re pestering her not me. The seller I used always includes duty in their prices, so nothing is owed. If you do call them, they sound quite polite and professional, but definitely don’t give them any cash!

I’ve been hassled about some supposed DHL invoice that I don’t owe, and I’ve already told DHL that they’ve got it wrong. After getting some threatening letters, I calmly explained my position and said I wasn’t going to pay. Then the caller said something about taking me "through security," and I told them I wasn’t having any of it and that I’d fight any court case they tried to start. Didn’t even say I’m a solicitor! Now their number’s blocked on my phone.

Got a call from this number earlier today, they were saying I’m behind on rent for a flat I used to live in. They had all my details like my full name, date of birth, my current place and the old address. They even mentioned the housing company name and said they’d ring me again once they had “further info” after I told them I don’t owe anything. I reached out to my housing association straight away and told them to look into it. Now I’m waiting for them to call back and clarify what’s going on.

They claim that these fees haven’t been settled, but honestly, it sounds a bit dodgy to me. I’ve heard that DHL won’t hand over your parcel until the waybill is cleared, so this whole situation feels remarkably suspicious. It’s hard not to suspect a scam here, quite frankly!

I’ve said this before. They pretend they’re after a customs fee for DHL. Thing is, I don’t owe Customs a penny... YET I did get a parcel via DHL and these muppets somehow have the info. No idea how! The first letter I got, supposedly from DHL and then this lot, came through the post. Not an email or call. It really threw me off. You’d think scam emails would be the usual, but not this (I’ve had around 5 of these letters now).

No delivery company will drop off a package without you first settling any customs fees. If you get asked for money afterwards, it’s definitely a scam. I found this out when I got worried and tried to pay via DHL’s site. It didn’t accept the ‘code number’ they gave me (shock, shock). I was about to ring the number on the letter but thought I'll just check here first. If I hadn’t checked, they’d now have my bank info. I’m sure they wouldn’t have stopped at just £16. Please watch out for these tricks.

Got a voicemail from 01527 549490 (Redditch area). A bloke said it was an urgent message for Artur Simrole. He said he was Michael from Control Account, working with DHL international. Asked me to ring back on 01527 549497 and mention ref number 2728736. Quite odd if you ask me.

Got a call on my UK mobile, the one I really only switch on when I’m back in the UK for a couple weeks. They claimed to be from some debt collection firm about an overdue Fedex bill. Asked me questions about my 16 year old son, who’s studying here in England, like his postcode and then his date of birth. I told them I’d ring back. When I tried, it just went straight to voicemail. Feels like a total scam to me.

It’s the collections team from FedEx, don’t bother answering! They’ll hit you with charges whether you owe anything or not. Honestly, they’re just good at sending out debt collector letters and that’s about it. I had a chap from their collection agency ring me once, and let’s just say I wasn’t exactly civil in my response. I told him to shove off; I’m not funding their little scheme. Surprise, surprise, they didn’t take any action afterwards. When I had a word with FedEx, I reckoned they had better luck playing the lottery on a Sunday than getting me to cough up any cash. Received a call from this number saying it was from some Control Account about an overdue payment for Fedex. They wanted me to verify my address but I said I hadn’t received any parcel from Fedex. They insisted they couldn’t share more info without my details so I refused and told them it sounded like a scam. They soon gave up and ended the call. I rang Fedex afterwards and they confirmed I don’t owe them anything. The credit control firm’s phone begins with 01527 but the rest of the digits don’t add up, so Fedex will be checking it out.

Someone rang me pretending to be from DHL, saying I owed VAT on my iPad and needed to pay up. TOTAL SCAMMERS!!! They also emailed me with four files attached, and one had a “signature” claiming to be from DHL, but it’s all fake! This call was clearly a con, so watch out! The account number he gave was just a personal bank account. If there was any real tax to pay, it would go through the proper post office channels, not some random account!

I received a call from this number, but they didn't bother to leave a voicemail. After doing a bit of digging, it seems this might be linked to FedEx. I've recently received invoices from them alleging unpaid shipping fees, but I've settled all charges for my online purchases so it strikes me as suspicious. I've chosen to disregard all three invoices along with three ominous letters from debt collectors. I did, however, return one of those letters inscribed with the note, "This isn't my debt." Now, I've blocked the number, but I'll be on my guard and cross-verify any unfamiliar numbers that don't leave a message. They could be legitimate shipping agents, but, in my experience, all shipping fees have been covered at the point of sale online.
